Default Jack Stands

I need to place my 370z on jack stands for a transmission fluid change. I did a little research online, and results are inconsistent.

Where should I place the jack stands? The manual shows 4 side rail lifting points. However do you rest the jack stands on the plastic side skirt and over the pinched bar (Adjacent to front and back)? Or do you place the jacks parallel to the front and back of the car (off side skirts)?

Anyone have a picture or how theirs are placed.

Also, has anyone pinched their side rail with the jack? I see people are using a hockey puck does that work well for prevention?

Thanks Gene
