A quick csc failure question!

Csc failure came to my attention reading through the forums today and it seems pretty common. Is this something that will fail in all 370's? Im a casual driver no

Default A quick csc failure question!

Csc failure came to my attention reading through the forums today and it seems pretty common. Is this something that will fail in all 370's? Im a casual driver no track or anything like that. Since its a cheap plastic i feel like its something that has become inevitable to fail on us . Or is it more luck of the draw that you can go 100k without it failing

I think it depends on how you drive the car. I personally believe it'll last a life time if you properly drive the car.

I guess, but only a few careless shifts, actually with it's crap design I bet ONE "careless" shift where you mash the clutch pedal to the floor will start the CSC on a downward spiral, leading it to give out.

OP, might want to make that a $2000-3000 fund. You might as well change the clutch and flywheel while you're at it.

what if it goes out at 15k, the clutch and flywheel would still be pretty much new

I think that term is very relative

some will say the only proper way to drive the car is to drive hard (z=sports car)

& some will say driving miss daisy is proper

so which one is it that you're referring to?

My theory is that rapidly pressing the clutch is what kills it, so I don't think I'll have a problem for quite a while.

If I can't get it replaced under warranty, I'll definitely have a lightweight flywheel installed at the same time.

If you invest a couple of hundred dollars into the RJM clutch pedal assembly you might extend the life of the csc or possibly eliminate the failure all together. Not my claims, just info based on the postings of the pedal assembly manufacturer.

Nah, you'll total the car way before the CSC fails.

I doubt that's the cause of the csc failure unless you were feathering the clutch on every shift, then the clutch disc will likely to be worn out before the csc. I suspect that the main causes are excessive heat and poor material of the rubber seals.

Cars with external csc would normally last much longer.
