My '09 that I bought new and have used synthetic oil in since the first change burned about 1.25 quarts of oil every 5000 miles. That was with Redline 5W-30

My '09 that I bought new and have used synthetic oil in since the first change burned about 1.25 quarts of oil every 5000 miles. That was with Redline 5W-30 oil. I switched to Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 at 35,000 miles and the oil consumption dropped to less than half a quart every 5000 miles. Maybe it was the oil, maybe the engine just settled down and was fully broken in.
The bad news is that the Pennz. Ultra is no longer available so we'll see what happens when I switch back to Redline when my stash of Ultra is used up. |
