Exclamation 09 Rays What should i do with them?

So i have 09 Rays. I just bought the car recently and theyve had some damage done to them. LIKE A LOT. My options are powdercoat them matte black because i love the black wheels with platinum graphite car. The problrm with this is it wont get rid of all the curb rash just cover it up and powdercoat will eventually fade. Second option is sell Rays for newer wheels. What should i go with? How much should i sell my Rays for? Any input would be great! P.s. i want to stay 19's its the perfect size

which ones are damaged? The done deal dr is looking for the fronts but must be in good condition....Your options are to get them repaired and then power coat them some shops will do both at one shop. If powder coated correctly the powder coating should last. Rims............very in pricing. Are you wanting to spend 5k for a set or 1k for a set???

Have a wheel repair company in SA take a look at them. I had some work done on my OEM wheels and you would never know they were repaired. If you choose to go this route, they may also have powder coating services to take care of the color change, too.

Here are two companies I found in the SA area -

Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists of Texas: Servicing San Antonio, including Bastrop and Caldwell

Wheels America Wheel Repair San Antonio

Good luck and post some pics of your wheels to get feedback from the forum.

I'm interested in a set for autocross and don't care what they look like as long as they aren't bent and can hold air. Shoot me a pm if interested.

Im trying to post pictures but cant seem to figure out how. They are not bent just curb rash and paint chips. So the cost of repairing is about 150 per wheel and powder coat is 100 per wheel. Im looking at about a grand to repair. So if i would like to stay in that area if i decide to buy new ones.

I don't think you'll get as nice a set of wheels as you have for 1000, new, I would get them fixed up.

certain shops offer CNC machining repair options, which would ideally make your rims look brand new.

and if you do sell your rays for newer rims, would you buy a newer set of rays or aftermarket? reason why i ask is because if you ever decide to trade in your car, aftermarket wheels (and aftermarket anything) will reduce the value of your car.

if you are set on selling them, you probably won't get anything near what you want because:
1. most people are going to want the redesigned 2013+ rims
2. as you have stated, the curbrash
3. depending on how much tread you have left on your tires (although this shouldn't be a huge factor, i'm sure it'll play a role).
4. also, chances are, depending on the nature of the damage on your wheels, they may be bent.

if you have the money to repair and powercoat your rims, why not just hold off on that and just buy a new set of wheels with that money.

if doing this in the cheap, i would use a file to rid the burr, then spot bondo and sand it flat. paint using wheel paint (not plasti-shitt).

just mask off the tires, no need to get them dismounted to do the work.

I'll be sanding the curb rash out of my wheels and re-painting (color still undecided) soon. IMO to do it right you really should take the tires off, which in my case is happening anyway since I've got new ones to put on.

Then again, not everyone has access to a mounting and balancing machine like I do, or needs to swap out tires anyway.

PS: The stock wheels on these cars absolutely rock compared to most.

I traded my oem wheels for my black advent Gardis and I would say my resale value went up. I'm just looking for a cheap set of wheels for autocross and don't want to spend a ton of money for them. Tires alone will be very expensive. Either way OP good luck or repairing or replacing them.
