Well, I dunno... in theory its like any other material thing: At best its a very, very tiny window of insight into the tastes and resources of the possessor.
Cool people like cool things, moneyed people have nicer, more expensive things, etc (although with cars in particular, A + B usually = person is a fucking nob). EDIT -- On second thought, I should also add: People who think they are cool (or not cool) because of the things they own, regardless of relative wealth, are also fucking nobs.
