2015, is road noise reduced?
I brought my 15 sport home last night and had it going 75 on the highway for 45 minutes and I thought the road noise was extremely acceptable. This was the first I've ever been in a z at highways speeds and based on what I've been reading I was expecting it to be louder. The stock stereo sounded fine and I even had a phone conversation while driving and no trouble hearing the other person.
Are the 15's more insulated or is the road noise overly exaggerated by some? |

Most people expect that a sports car like the Z should be as close quiet like a sedan. The road noise is mostly coming from the oem bridgestone tires.
Had changed the tires to hankook v12 and the noise has greatly reduced. Plus my exhaust is so loud I barely hear any road noise. But drove a roadster one time I was surprised its more quiet than the coupe even on top down, possibly the clothe top when down insulates the rear trunk which most of the road noise are coming from. |

Ok well I haven't driven it much, but I don't expect a car like this to be as quiet as our Honda Accord. I kinda like the noise. I also live in oil country and they help pay for our roads so the highways out here are VERY good. I didn't even look yet to see what kind of tires they put on it. It's got the sport rims.

I did notice the gravel. I also forgot I was not driving a jacked up truck and tried to straddle a tumble weed. That thing hitched a ride for a long way underneath the car somewhere!

I traded in a '12 for a '15. The '15 is a bit better (quieter), not great.
Before I traded in the '12 I replaced the Bridgestones with Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires, they were only marginally quieter than the Bridgestones, and were not as responsive either, as one would expect from an all season tire vs. a summer tire. |

My '14 with stock rubber isn't 'loud' by my definition. Maybe I'm just deaf or too focused on driving. The only time I notice is going through a lot that has gravel or in the wet, which has only been once.
