Considering joining the Z family.. again
Been thinking about taking the leap back into the Z family again. I am a previous owner of an 08 350z. Loved the car, but it had some problems. I had to replace the CSC twice. Once I paid $1500 and the second time that part was still under warranty. Well I got fed up and decided to purchase something with more room and reliable. So I got an 09 g37 coupe in AT. Owned this vehicle for over two years now. But ever since I got rid of my MT I have had the itch to get one again.
Now what I am worried about is that Nissan has the same configuration for the clutch assembly, which includes a CSC inside of the transmission. If that part was outside of the tranny, Id be less worried about replacing it. But I don't want to buy a $30k car and then have to drop the transmission within a year. If I buy one of these should I just have the dealer install a Z Speed CSC as part of my stipulation for purchasing the vehicle? One other thing I noticed was Nissan discontinued my favorite color, Monterey blue. Are there chances this color would come back?? Convince me to get a z... |

OEM CSC will fail. Eventually. The ZSpeed HD CSC is a good option. But I doubt the dealer is going to install one for you unless they are one of the few mod-friendly dealers and even then you'll end up paying for it.
As for the color, I doubt it. Also, people keep saying the next gen Z is around the corner. TBD. All that being said, I love my 6MT DD 370Z. 63K miles and counting. GET ONE!!

I wouldn't buy another unless you're a hardcore Z fanatic.
No chance Monterey blue is coming back on this body style

My old 350z had the light brown leather which I thought looked incredible. If I could find a touring vehicle in monteray with that trim, that would be ideal. Guess Ill just have to keep a lookout! Does anyone know if catback exhausts from g37 port over to 370z? Or is the 370z shorter? |

Yup CSC on the 370Z also. If you're set on getting a Monterey Blue, then you're buying used. I say, set a price on what you're willing to pay for the car. Example $25,000 but you find one for $22,500, swap out the CSC for a Z Speed one and you'll still have some money left for additional mods. Or just keep that money in a rainy day fund to repair the CSC when it happens.
While I don't want my CSC to go out on me, that didn't stop me from buying a Z. I've just set some money aside to replace it with an aftermarket one, when it does go out. Good luck on your decision. By the way, I came from a 08 G35C A/T before the Z, but after 2 1/2 years of ownership, I couldn't be happier with my Z. |
