R.I.P. Mr. K.
|
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang! He will be missed. I could only dream of living to be that old. I'll be lucky to have half of that life span
|
Goodbye
We owe our passion for these cars to Mr K. Words cannot convey. For the folks here that don't know the man or never had the opportunity to meet him, head over to TwinTurbo.NET: Nissan 300ZX forum to spend a few minutes to learn about him. These photos convey much better. And a huge tip to MadMike for bringing him to the US so many times so we could meet him.

Woke to this :(
RiP Mr K. We pretty much owe everything Z to you. Thank You! |
Our thoughts and prayers go out to him as well as his friends and family! Godspeed, may you rest in peace.

Would this mean the value of the Z will go up as same with the ford Shelby when the old man passed away? I guess not.:ugh2:
RIP Mr. K I hope you wont get a ticket on your way to heaven. Please tell God to make the new Z twin-turbo! |
|
Yutaka Katayama led a long and charmed life. As the father of the Z, he took some calcualted risks that paid off. We all owe you, Mr. K- may your garage in the sky always contain many heavenly rides that bring you joy!

I want to Like this thread, but I don't like the news... dilemmas.
It is amazing that he lived so long, that is close to twice my expected lifespan. I figure people living in modern society will all die from cancer at an early age. On that upbeat note, may you rest in peace Katayama-sama. |
Mr. K lived a very fruitful and meaningful life.
He fulfilled his mission in life to share his passion the love for cars thus through him the birth of the legendary Z. Its sad but joyful in a sense..as he journey back home. |
Thanks for the memories Mr. K. Your designs and ideas will live on in my family.
|
105 years old, that was a hell of a run he had, not to mention the awesome legacy he left us!
Thanks & R.I.P. Mr. K! |
God's speed. RIP. :(
|
If not for him, there would have been no Z, and possibly no Nissan in the US as we know it now.
Never met him but saw him on video link at ZCON in 2010. Sad news indeed. |
Rip :(
|
105, Wow! RIP
|
rip and thank you for the many smiles that your car has put on my face and will continue to put on my face... you'll live on thru all of your z family... every time we press the accelerator
|
Indeed, may Mr. Katayama rest in peace. I had always wanted a Z but no joy till last year. It has been a great car through the years and is a great legacy for Mr. Katayama. Drive on.

Just a tip that BlipShift is honoring Mr. K this week with their apparel with all proceeds going to Make-A-Wish which was his favorite charity. I trust the moderators will cut me some slack on this posting.
|
If it hadn't been for my good friend who was a neighbor and his Z cars, I wouldn't be the same person as I am today. RIP Mr. K.
I have put a many a mile on backside driving a Z car. Too many to count. |
