Underbody Scratches?

Hey guys, it seems that no matter how careful I drive, I'm always scraping the bottom of the Z, especially the sport package front spoiler. Does anyone else experience this or have any driving tips to avoid it?

Don't drive it?

Second to that, don't drive it fast on bumps

Third to that, the spoiler is replaceable...something like $125 gets you a brand new, scrape-free one.

That said, for those instances where I know I could scrape, I'll get the lift-kit for a set of KW Variant 3's, when I get the money for both - lol...unlikely anytime soon, but, I'm pretty much done driving mine until March...save for a few times I'll drive it just because....which is the same as I've done since I bought in June...lol

slow down over dips and bumps, entrance ramps take it on an angle... that's about all you can do.

and just replace it down the road. :)

I live in WV where there are hills everywhere. It's nearly impossible to avoid scraping the front spoiler. My spoiler is scraped up but the only person who can notice it is me.
You really need to get down to it and look close to see scratches. Ive even scraped the bottom of the front bumper. It left a few scrapes but its underneath the edge so it isn't a concern.

My advise is to be careful around entrances and bumps like posts above say, other than that dont worry about it. You'll go crazy since it does scrape quite often.

Definitely the most scraping front spoiler I've ever owned and much worse than my old 350. I try to angle in and out over ramps which helps some.

When it starts looking a little frayed I'm going to use a couple of tricks that helped my old Z spoiler. Trim the rough frayed edge with a razor blade and brush it over with a bottle of Kiwi scuff coat black liquid shoe polish, the kind in the squeeze bottle with the built in sponge applicator. Not perfect but better than constantly shelling out $$$ for a new one.

All I can say is that trying to NOT scrape my front spoiler probably saves my front fascia. If I didn't have the spoiler to keep me from being cavalier over bumps, I'd probably have caught my front fascia on a curb or bump by now.

happens so much its no big deal to me now. at least is not a painted part that scrapes, just black plastic

You ever drove a lowered car before? If not, you take the incline at an angle, not straight on. And if that's not possible, then approach the "steep" grade slowly. If grade is too steep, then avoid the incline.

The front bottom lip is meant to be replaced anyways.

welcome to owning a 370Z...I slightly scrape mine every time I pull up and back out of my drive way, impossible for me not to...

+1 same here. you become extra sensitive due to the chin spoiler so you avoid damaging your real fascia.

This is the best advise right here :ughdance:.

Has anybody just completely removed the sport package front spoiler. Do to always scratching or use it as protection and a guide from hitting the real bumper and just roll with the punches.

Are you dropped at all? if not, you really shouldnt be having much trouble as long as you are taking moderate angles.

Why would you do that, when it gives you an indicator, plus you cant see the scratches unless you lay down under the car. :icon14:
