2009 370z recall?

I got an email from my dealership telling me to call them regarding a recall on my Z. The email does not say anything else. Does anyone know what this is pertaining to? Thanks.

theDreamer 10-12-2009 05:01 PM

No emails yet today for me, will try to call someone later to see if they know anything.

Jme370 10-12-2009 05:02 PM

Thanks. They just closed as I got the email (go figure!) so I will check in the morning if we don't have an answer before then. The email was pretty specific and had my VIN so I think it's legit.

azn370z 10-12-2009 05:03 PM

I would think you would get a letter in the mail for a recall. I wonder if the email is to buy your car and sell you another car.

Jme370 10-12-2009 05:05 PM

No, it is from the service manager and says if you have already received the letter in the mail then disregard. I will upload the email in a few.

xfrgtr 10-12-2009 05:05 PM

Nissan says that it will recall as many as 143,000 2008 and 2009 model year Nissan and Infiniti products over a tire-pressure monitoring system nut that may fail in areas where heavy amounts of road salt are used during the winter months.

Jme370 10-12-2009 05:10 PM

I spoke with the service manager at a different dealer and he stated that there is nothing in the system as of yet and to check back in a few days.

im speculating its probably been amended as such... since we have the tpms as well...

Jme370 10-12-2009 05:22 PM

The recall about the TPMS says that it covers the northern 20 states. I bought my car in FL and live in FL and have it registered in FL.

JungleB 10-12-2009 05:23 PM

Nothing here yet either.

What models are covered in the recall? The 2009 Nissan Cube and Murano, along with the 2008 Rogue. 2008-2010 Infiniti M35 and M45 sport sedans are also affected by the action. Owners of model affected by the recall will be able to head over to the nearest Nissan or Infiniti dealer to get a "more robust nut." Dealers will be able fix recalled vehicles on or before November 2010. Hit the jump to see if you live in one of the states affected by the recall. Hat tip to Art G.
^ from the autoblog website. I know it's not definitive, but no mention of the Z...

kenchan 10-12-2009 07:10 PM

I don't drive my hobby cars in the winter so not enough for me to bring it in and have the dealer possibly scratchup the wheels.

:p

UPDATE:

I called nissan corporate to see what was going on. They have no record of a recall and said the dealership probably used the email as a gimmick to get me to service my car there.

I have had countless problems with the dealer since I bought the car. Very unethical and not honest. Needless to say the corporate rep reported the incident and I got an email just a few minutes ago apologizing for incorrectly sending me the email!!

The moral of the story....stay away from Celebrity Nissan in Orlando!

:shakes head: shady...just shady...

semtex 10-13-2009 05:34 PM

We should start some sort of blacklist. A running list of bad dealers, vendors, shops, etc. Celebrity and Forgestar for starters. The tricky part is that there needs to be some fair way to adjudicate who gets put on and who doesn't. In other words, there needs to be demonstrable probable cause, so to speak. I've seen threads where people bitch and moan about businesses unjustifiably too.

Well, I don't know. Could get complicated. First off, Forgestar isn't even a vendor on this board, so that wouldn't work. Neither is Celebrity Nissan in Orlando, right? Also, being able to give sponsoring vendors negative rep would probably put AK in a tight spot with his sponsors, which isn't what we want to do, I don't think. I dunno. I think we need to wait for AK's situation to get back to normal, then once he's back, maybe float the concept to him and see what he thinks.

eh...your right...bad idea-----scratch-----

i guess he could make a sticky with vendors, dealers, etc...

letting everyone know "buyers beware" or something to that effect...

I did get the same email from the dealer I purchased my car, but next day I received an email from the manager saying there was a mistake. THat email was suppose to be for the Murano, but since my VIN# and email address was in their system I recieved that email automatically.

Then I received another email from a different dealer, but no confirmation if was an error or anything. Anyway I checked this official site and the 370Z is not even listed. ODI - Office of Defects Investigation

and i was at this dealer test driving one of their Z's! the sales guy told me it has a synchro rev, and i look at the switch and it was not their! the prices were confusing .. something about data dots that cost 495.00!
but the test drive was long... also completely made my decision as to what i want now. just not gonna get it from Celebrity!

I received a Automated voicemail today about the same. I live in Miami, Florida, this is a transcription of the call.

Hello this is a courtesy call from Maroone Nissan of Miami to inform you that according to Nissan latest records you may have an open recall on your vehicle. Its very important to schedule an appointment in our service department as soon as possible to determine if you need to have this free service performed or to determine if especial parts need to be ordered.

Please contact our service department at 786-552-6689. Again this is a courtesy call from Maroone Nissan of Miami, we hope to see you soon
My 6 month maintenance is this November, I wonder if it just happen to be a reminder for this. It definitely freaks me out there is a recall, thats why I came running to the site to see if others were getting the same calls.

Let us know.

Brian
