The NISMO redeems itself...ish
I've been somewhat vocal about the NISMO 370Z's shortfalls and how it has failed to impress in every documented test/comparison we've seen. From US magazines to Best Motoring Tsukuba Battles, the NISMO always seemed to lag behind other competitors, not to mention the Base/Sport, being the topic of several heated threads on this forum.
Finally, it seems as if the NISMO has finished a test on pace with other performance-cars. In a Best Motoring video posted on YouTube just yesterday, the NISMO 370Z "battles" a TOM's-tuned IS-F, STI Spec-C, NSX-R, and a Ralliart Evo X. All except for the IS-F posted a somewhat mediocre 1:06.xxx lap-time around Tsukuba, but it is a feat for the Z to almost tie the NSX-R, none the less. To those who previously bashed Best Motoring videos...feel free to hold the same opinion now that the NISMO wasn't embarrassed. Discredit the testing as unfair, biased, inconclusive, and inconsistent. I am, however, just presenting more information to draw conclusions off of, as I try to do a pretty good job holding no bias one way or the other... [YOUTUBEHQ]GCRwKv4qQ5k[/YOUTUBEHQ] |
at 28 sec, these are the sport package tires. i thought the nismo comes with yokohama advan with 285 mm rear width ?????
Also wats an evo x ralliart? The ralliart is a mid level lancer model above the base but slower and cheaper than the evolution. At 3:18 HOLY ****! That's a FAST shift! |
Let's get a Best Motoring race between a Nismo 370, Sport 370 and Base 370. Throw a Nismo 350 and Base 350 in there to mix it up too.

Yah, id like to see how the Base 6MT does against the group.
Nissan shouldve just released the Nismo as a "Track" edition and put more real perf mods on the Nismo to keep up with the Porsches and Vettes... But that's just me. :p |
Interesting

370z's in japan are not held to the safety standards here in the US. This Z May Possibly be 200 or 300 lbs lighter and may be using better quality internal parts. My friend in the service lived in japan 10 years. In that time he owned a bluebird, skyline and fairlady. He said the nissans in japan are a different breed. Much much better than the ones shipped to america. So for our soil. This article is extremely subjective.

Fun looking track to drive. Not sure about the "bumper" car driving though. I'd like to see individual lap times (ran solo) to see what car/driver could put down the best times.

That being said. Rip out ur airbag system. Add more carbon fiber/titanium n aluminum parts and u hav a japanese Z. That can change the dynamics greatly and wouldn't be surpised if the japanese Z is 2900lbs. |

The rest of your post is just a face-palm... |

JDM and Europe (not 100% sure) Nismo's get most of the options the std Z's are offered. Leather, mp3, Nav etc. etc.. It was the same story with the Nismo 350. We always get shafted here in the states with this no options Nismo enhanced base Z nonsense. :shakes head: |
