Getting very nervous

I am really not one for airing grievances publicly but I was hoping and praying that not only would I get some advice on my story, but perhaps someone here can help and does business with or knows this company.

Sometime in August I ordered Amuse parts (rear bumper, skirts, and wing) from Shine Auto Project and had corresponded with Ken. I paid in full via paypal.

on 10/23/14 I received those parts and the box was busted open (a lot like my fuji front bumper I just had to refuse) and the parts were visibly damaged with chunks of material torn from the parts. I had my nanny take pictures and refuse delivery. After texting me the pictures and she described the parts I decided to refuse and work from there. I immediately called Ken, he was super helpful and told me not to worry I Did the right thing refusing delivery and he would work on getting me new parts made up. I was completely honest, and told him I never saw the box in person but I saw pictures (which I sent him) and told my nanny to refuse the package as she was home while I was at work.
I heard from Ken again on 11/19/14 and he said via email that my parts were just about done, and lookout for shipping information...
Im still waiting...
I sent Ken four emails since then and have received no reply from him at all. I also have called Shine at their phone number every day for a week. It is either busy, or rings until it stops, no one ever picks up. I have been patient to this point, but im beginning to get aggravated.
If I communicated like this with my clientele I would be out of business.

Does anyone know Ken, or have any insight or assistance they can provide? Im on the east coast...ill mail you a six pack:)

I read that, before I even ordered these parts...that buyer was completely unreasonable...I however had actual dialogue with Ken at the company and for every Shine Scammer thread there are two saying Ken is awesome...Im still waiting to see it.

JC-Nismo 01-21-2015 03:08 PM

Usually where there's smoke it's fire and at this point even if he does come through, the experience itself is bullshiiit and not worth it. Sorry dude and hope it all works out for you. I flippin HATE bad customer service!!!

cooltoy 01-21-2015 03:25 PM

There are a few people here that have contact with Shine. I think Depointfive0 might have access to Shine.

By the way, I have had only positive experiences with them. Shipping companies on the other hand I despise.

Amj2020 01-21-2015 05:02 PM

Well, I would appreciate any help and im not kidding about a six pack! You know it wasn't even his fault initially, and he said he would take it up with the shipper...I don't see why you would make a bad situation worse by communicating, then dropping off the face of the planet...

cooltoy 01-21-2015 05:05 PM

I do know that Ken runs a small operation which keeps him busy amongst other things. Did you try the phone number?

DEpointfive0 01-21-2015 05:08 PM

Amj, would you like me to link him to this post?

Here he comes to save the day.

Amj2020 01-21-2015 05:43 PM

I would like and appreciate anything to get his attention to the fact ive been reaching out to him for months with no response....thanks DE...I call every single day for over a week, left a message the first time...the phone is either busy, or just keeps ringing.

DEpointfive0 01-21-2015 05:46 PM

Sent to him via FB

Amj2020 01-21-2015 05:47 PM

Thanks DE, I really appreciate it, if it works out let me know if you like an IPA or lager or what...

FairladyZ10PG 01-21-2015 06:58 PM

I've done business with ken twice

both times his responses were late but he does get back

I've even visited his storefront but both times he wasn't there lol

Hope you get your parts sooner than later op

Amj2020 01-21-2015 08:01 PM

Im cool with someone not getting back to me for a week, things happen. Two months is a long time to not do it yourself or have a staff who can accomplish it and not really acceptable, but I digress...I just want to square away the transaction and reserve judgement till everything is resolved. Like I said from the start I have only heard good things about Ken and Shines products. He was always professional when we spoke. I need to get this resolved.

Amj2020 01-22-2015 12:17 PM

Depressing to report...no word from Shine or Ken, and no answer on their phone

4TthAnnyZ 01-22-2015 12:23 PM

Would like to chime in here and say that its been over two weeks since I placed an order with Shine. Emailed an inquiry with no response. If he doesnt answer soon I'll get paypal involved to get my money back. Sounds like this shine auto project is getting shady. Are they the new Evo R?? Lol

Zoren 370 01-22-2015 12:34 PM

Better file a dispute from paypal before the 30 day window expires.

Zerocool 01-22-2015 12:36 PM

well damn... that doesn't appear to be good considering I was interested in the amuse kit they sell

Amj2020 01-22-2015 04:47 PM

I want to hope for the best, but I cant say anything at this point other than get your money back while you still can...

Thats the plan, I'll give him another week (benefit of the doubt).

Anyone here that knows him, might be wise to give him a heads up that he's got some unhappy customers looking for even the slightest amount of communication...

I don't KNOW him. My shop knows Ken. BUT I did link Ken to this post on FB

And I do have Shine parts on my car without any problems with fitment or anything. I personally think they're really backed up, but you guys do what you gotta do

Backed up or not, it would be proper business practice to answer calls and/or respond to emails from people that have paid him a lot of money for his products, even if it is just to tell us that he's backed up.

If this business is just something he is doing on the side and he is occupied with life in general, then he should probably delegate someone to handle customer relations.

Let's get to the real issue... You have a nanny? ;)

I would not be nervous. They have been around for ever, they are not a fly by night operation. One just never knows what is going on in a persons life (illness, family death, etc..).

valid point

Amj2020 01-22-2015 08:36 PM

I completely understand life happens...so just set a default response via email, leave on a voicemail. Its not hard. They did nothing and seem to be doing nothing, I just want to establish they are still in business and have a representative you can speak with. I want the parts, but at this point id take the parts or a refund I just want some closure, other than just losing money for no reason.

Amj2020 01-22-2015 08:41 PM

aaaannnnd...on a side note.. yes I (we) have a nanny. My wife still wanted to work, and she does and it makes her happy. So she is there while we are working. For all the married and soon to be fathers....
One of the most interesting things ever was these Au Pair Services...its basically like importing the hottest foreign 20 year old possible, dirt cheap, and it even lists their height and weight, as if that is not vital nanny information. Amazing stuff...

Sooooo needless to say you should have seen the smile cross my wifes face when the nanny we hired first met us at a diner. She was very big, about four of my wife. So yea, im living the dream?!?!?:P

I really do hope this gets resolved amicably, so many people say good things about Ken, Im still a believer im not going to get scammed out of 2 grand. Cmmon man, im a new dad...thats like half a mortgage payment, not very cool as a human at all...

I'm not backing him up... And I agree with you.

Amj2020 01-23-2015 08:30 AM

I appreciate anything you did DE. Does anyone here actually personally know Ken Ching and can get his attention to this thread? Or to the plight of his customers? That would be amazing. I know some of our forum sponsors deal regularly with him, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me with this problem, my wife is already pissed that I spend this much on the car, but she certainly isnt down with me giving away money for nothing.

4TthAnnyZ 01-23-2015 09:37 AM

Darn wives

njobe89 01-23-2015 11:12 AM

damn.... it seems none of these sellers (cosmetic) seem to be legit lol. they send broken stuff, then stop replying. there is no excuse one can come up with not to respond for 2 months (unless you're in the hospital or 6ft below). we all have our cell phones in our hands majority of the day. so to say he can't check his emails and respond to the guy is ludicrous.

cooltoy 01-23-2015 11:29 AM

I doubt that they send broken stuff. It arrived broken, which is the fault of the shipping company.

If an item has been damaged in shipping, it takes several month for them to get their money back for a claim. A small business probably can not afford to put up the money for a new kit to ship right away, so they wait until the claim has been settled and than use that money to order the replacement part.

It took 5 month to get a replacement for one of the damaged wheels I received when I bought my wheels, because the shipper was dragging their feet.

Once the shop said the claim was filed and it would take a while, I did not bug them every week for an update and let the process take it's course.

cooltoy 01-23-2015 11:39 AM

As a side note, I also received my Shine kit slightly damaged (some cracks in the white gel coat and small pieces of the gel coat missing on the corners. No damage to the actual fiberglass underneath the gel coat).

I talked to a body shop and they said that the damage can be easily repaired without any loss to the integrity of the kit. So I decided to keep it, instead of going through all the hustle of sending it back and having it replaced (without any guarantee that the new one will not get damaged as well).

After talking to Ken, he offered to pay for the repairs. We'll see how that goes.

I agree I do not blame Shine for Fedex having a belligerent driver with a deformed and opened package with damaged parts.

I also know If Ken needed time to wait to make the parts I told him personally to take his time as I am not a huge priority as time constraints go. As you may or may not know I recently ordered a Fujimura Front bumper and it came to my door completely destroyed, I put a post about it a few months ago. I want to get it all put on at once to blend it right, so he and I had a very cordial conversation about this. He is the one who emailed me on 11/19 telling me he was about to send my parts to me. I have not heard from him since, or been able to contact him, making this utterly ridiculous already.

Truthfully at this point it would have been cheaper to have a shop repair the parts than deal with this aggravation. Sadly I firmly believe if I pay for new parts then I should get brand new parts, not damaged ones.

I do too, but shipping companies screw this ideal up so many, they don't give a crap.

The wheel shop I dealt with actually forwarded e-mails that the had received from the shipper he used. They were so belligerent to him, practically telling him to F OFF. He went through a lot of stress talking to them just to get me a new wheel, which the shipper damaged

Amj2020 01-23-2015 01:57 PM

thats why I give my UPS guy a niiiiice big holiday bonus tip...I use them for business and personal deliveries to and from home regularly. He sorts, stacks, and carefully brings each package inside my house:P Sadly, I never used FedEx...hah go figure..

My fujimura bumper came from some freight company I never heard called Central Transport. Pretty inventive name there. They screwed that box up so badly, here are some pictures for us to relive the excitement.

hahaha I exploded the internet when I tried to upload pics, heres a link to the thread:)

Yeh, I remember that. You have just about the same luck I do.

Ok, maybe worth luck.
