I'm not a "Forbes" kind of guy but the idea that much of the death rate is due to the typical drivers rather than the lack of safety inherent in the car's design is undoubtedly a major factor if not the sole one.

If it makes you feel any better, I personally crashed a 370Z, ripped off the front axle, and banged up the rear frame -- airbags deployed, and totally without injury, other than a minor bruise from the seatbelt.
