According to CarsDirect, a dealer would pay in the neighborhood of $45,855 for a fully optioned AT Nismo Tech... then turn around and charge the buyer $48,020.

So something like $2165 profit for them if you're dumb enough to pay full sticker price.

yeah im pretty disheartened how little margin is in these cars. there is still 2.9% holdback and im sure I can get atleast half of that with my contacts..but my goal of getting one for 38K OTD dont look too good right now

A minor observation from car sale charts...

2014 sales for the Z were generally better than 2013. Depending on the month, something between 100 to 200 more cars per comparative month. However the numbers weren't incredible, per se -- 2010 through 2012 were better -- just that 2014 was better than 2013.

That changed for August though: 2013 sales were better than 2014... so the trend suddenly broke.

Expectation for the 2015 might have done that. Remains to be seen if the arrival of the 2015 boosts sales in future months.

Yea, I went in to check out the 370z hoping they might have a 2015 Nismo. They tried to sell me hard on a 2014, but I just don't see why anyone would buy a 2014 when the new models are coming out.

You can usually get a 14 cheaper once the new models are out. You have a little more wiggle room with them over a new one I feel. Plus the 2014s look better IMO. I just want those Nismo seats.

Went to one in Gardena, CA... It's beautiful, but the inside was OLD especially the radio...

I'm FAT and had a BAD accident years ago and I could not get myself out of the Recaro seat... I could get in perfectly but getting out... I needed help...

Pro Tip: For those trying to special order the NISMO, and you don't want to wait the full 90 days, see if your dealer can do a vehicle exchange with the dozen or so NISMO's already out in the wild... or exchange the allocation slot. You should NOT have to pay extra for that kind of service. #1: It happens all the time. #2: The work involved is mostly the manager doing an inventory/order search, phone calls, and some paperwork. It's not rocket science.

Learned some more interesting info about preordering Nissan cars.

When you factory order a Stingray from Chevy, your order requirements are sent to the factory and they build the car for you specifically. This is because there's so many combination of options someone can get.

When you factory order a 370Z from Nissan, your order requirement is put on a waiting list. Because the Z has a much more limited range of option combinations, sooner or later the factory will build a car to your specifications. When that happens, and if you're next in line on the waiting list for that option combination, it will be sent to your dealer. The car isn't build specifically for you... it just happens to be the kind of car you want.
