^^ if you plan on getting a 370 i guess now would be the perfect time to do it, my guess is you have a solid 2 years to play until the new Z hits the streets. And any later you will feel like an owner of a c6 when a brand new c7 pulls up lol

That is a valid point. As much as I like what they did with new NISMO (except fir the wing delete) at the end of they day its a glorified holdover patch until the Z35 and that's really something to think about before pulling the trigger

Reading that really plays mental games for a guy like me. I was hoping to get a nismo at the end of this year but now dont want to be the idiot that buys a car right before a complete new version comes out and wish I would have waited
Decisions, decisions.... how is the resale value on these things in case I choose to get the new one? |

Remember, usually the first 3 production years of most cars are horrible and riddled with problems. Also, if Nissan paired with Mercedes I'd def wait a couple years to buy one. See how things pan out for the car. The first year 350s had mad problems.

Also remember, you don't know what Z35 will look like or cost. I'm hoping it will look good, but you never know it could be a love or hate it kind of situation. Nissan knows this market well since they're the only one left in it and have been alone for some time now but again, looks are subjective so either way it can suck to wait or suck not to.

Yay! Got a call from the dealer. They got the Order Guide in AND secured an Open Allotment. Estimated 90 days for delivery (which is like the "generic number" they always give for special orders). Going to do the initial paperwork this afternoon.
I will see if I can somehow weasel a copy of the Order Guide or memorize some stuff off it when I get a look. Ah... nevermind on the last part. Looked in another thread, and saw that koeppelnissan is on top of finding those things: MY 2015 370Z changes and trim levels Last edited by Nargrakhan; 08-11-2014 at 12:16 PM. |

Narg did you get a chance to lower price or is always solid on orders? I am thinking about also doing an order but do not want to pay full price lol. Also I would love to see some colors in person before making a purchase.

A lot of dealers will try to charge full price on direct factory ordering, but you don't have to agree to that and bargain for less. I bargained with the dealer last week when finding an Open Allotment, and going to do it again this afternoon. Also note you can even do negotiations AFTER the car arrives... because you're gonna do another inspection of it to make sure nothing was left out, damaged during the voyage, or got a lemon. Just keep a strong hawk eye on what you sign, and make sure NOTHING forces a final commitment. Negotiate as if the car was actually on the lot. |

So another question. Did you have to give a non refundable down payment due to it being a special order? Or is that a risk the dealer takes?
If you don't mind telling what your final price is? I kind of want to see where I can get my price to go. I already have a few points planed on making when trying to lower the price haha. |

If you're forced to have your down payment non-refundable, it gives the dealer a lot more leverage. It also lets them sell it for slightly less to the other guy. All around win-win for them. I'd fight for a refundable down payment. It's the principle. I don't like the dealer having win-win. We haven't hammered the pre-arrival price yet. I won't say final, because there's always room for negotiation after it gets to America. Probably a few more days. There's also another dealer in the next state (about two hours away), who might secure an Open Allotment. If they can, it will really strengthen my hand. Quote:
All said and done, the ball is entirely in our court. We don't have to buy it from them, and we could always wait until the situation is better. Do you really have to be among the first people to get this car? It will be sold for at least another 12 months, so there's no need to rush. Within four to six, this car will be on dealer lots across the country. |

Guys these cars depreciate so rapidly, as such be careful on buying new and barter for the lowest price possible. Go look at trade in values for a 2014, it's a 25% decrease over new MSRP.

that fact has been weighing heavily on my decision making. I mean I can get this car for close to dealer cost but even then I dont wont to take a big hit. I turned down a 2014 NISMO this weekend for actual dealer cost as they just wanted it gone. I would need to be in the mid 30's to make this happen. my time frame is after February so I just need to see how everything pans out between now and then

Dealer has confirmed their Open Allotment. Will be providing a refundable down payment. Dealer is confident that even if I back out, he can find another buyer (not sure if he honestly feels that way; or just a bluff). We went back and forth on pricing, but didn't come to a total agreement. I am not paying over or equal to the sticker price, but how much below is not set. Dealer wants to have the car physically on the lot before making final offer. I know it's a psychological ploy: with the car visibly in front of me, I'll want it more. We're looking at late September to early October for arrival.
He made an odd offer of cutting more dollars off, if I let him display the car in their showroom for a full week before taking it home. I suppose they want to show it off next to the GT-Rs, for word of mouth advertising. ***EDIT*** On a side note: trade in values for the outgoing model has plummeted. KBB showed a $2000 drop from last week. Nothing surprising really, but worth mentioning. Last edited by Nargrakhan; 08-12-2014 at 10:19 AM. |

oo thats great info!
Funny you say that comment about him selling it. The dealer I went to last weekend had a sales guy tell me something he probably shouldn't have. Told me their last Nismo sat at the lot for 8 months before an employee bought it for a good discount. I went there Sunday and was specific I wasn't planing on purchasing anything that day, so it seemed he had no motivation to try and sell me lol. So hopefully when time comes for me to go and purchase mine (Hopefully mid Dec) I will use their old nismo sale as a helper haha. |
