This is my first Nissan and my first Z. I bought it to retire my current daily driver, an '02 911. I've only had the Nismo for three days so I'm keeping it under 4k but I'm loving it!

The one attribute I've been most impressed with is that it turns effortlessly. My 911 turns well also but this car is just effortless, so smooth and precise. All I can say is WOW! I can't wait for the break-in to be complete so I can open it up. (I did cheat once - just once, and went to 6k on an on-ramp - OMG I can't wait!)

BTW I checked for the shipping blocks on the front suspension and sure enough - there they are. I'm suppose to go back to the dealer next Friday to pick up the rest of my manuals - someone swiped the service and warranty books - so I'll have them removed then.

I don't really intend to do any mods - that's why I bought the Nismo - except perhaps an oil cooler and maybe an intake (for the sound). I don't care for loud exhaust, I got that out of my system with the Porsche (drone, drone, drone - that lasted about a year), but I would like to hear a little bit more of the exhaust note. After all, isn't that why we drive performance sports cars? This car is fabulous as is and I'm really looking forward to driving it.

Welcome and a great observation. While people are naturally obsessed with horsepower, I don't think the Z gets enough credit for how well it handles.

She bought it a couple of weeks ago and insisted I take it for a test drive. I liked it so much I was going to buy one next summer but after a bit of research on the 2015 I decided I liked the 2014 more, plus the 2015 is only available in four colors - I like the gray.

I found a gray 2014, test drove it with my wife who actually insisted I buy it, and drove it home last Friday. So it's all my neighbor's fault...

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the Nismo. Give it time. You'll do some mods to it. It's hard not to.

I always buy a car and say "no mods on this one" why yes I am an idiot that says that

That last a couple weeks until I see or hear something I want.

I'd have to say the Air intake, test pipes, exhaust and tune turned my Nismo from cool and fast to "holy **** batman that's fast"

I find if I spend too much time dreaming about different mods I want to do, I spend less time enjoying and appreciating what I actually have. How far does one go to build a car they're happy with? Does one mod to the point it's a full blown 370Z RC that is streetable? If so, why stop there - why not get a faster car, a GTR? Is that fast enough? Replace the turbos, tweak the suspension, etc. Is that not enough? Get a faster car. Is that not enough? Where does it end?

So I'm inclined to enjoy driving the car, knowing it has limits of performance it will not go beyond, and learn to perform to the best of my ability within those limits. As a car guy I certainly appreciate craftsmanship and can appreciate a well sorted and efficiently modified car, but I'm not chasing the mod fairy. I'm just going to enjoy driving the car.

For now anyway...

I bought mine already broken in. I'm not a patient enough person to make it all the way through without beating on it.

Congrats on the new ride!
