Considering replacing H pipe on NISMO exhaust
Hello everyone. I have had my NISMO Z for about a year and I think it is about time for some HFC's. While considering replacing the entire exhaust system I have decided on keeping the stock NISMO system and possibly replacing the H pipe section. If I am correct, the H pipe section is only around 2.25 inches in diameter with the remainder of the system around 2.5 inches. I am replacing the cats with Berks. I think it would be weird going from 2.5 cats back to a 2.25 H pipe. I am thinking of adding a custom 2.5 inch H or X pipe to keep the diameter consistent from the cats all the way back.
Does anyone have any experience with this idea? Are there any aftermarket X pipes out there? Any info would be appreciated. |

I'm going down the same road very soon. I've been eyeing the AAM pipe super hard sense it will bolt on directly.

Nismo oem H pipe is around 2.1" and the intermediate pipes to the muffler are 2.4" as measured on my old '10 nismo. The AAM comp Midpipe cbe replaces all that with what we should have got, a true 2.5" cbe.
I'm running it with the oem muffler section and very happy with it. |

Thanks for the measurements. I am sure the stock system is all sized out in metric measurements. I am checking with a guy this week or next about creating an X pipe using a Magnaflow x pipe section. I am just debating whether to make the section 2.25" or 2.5". I don't want to slow the exhaust gas down too much going to 2.5" x pipe and ruin the scavenging effect, nor do I want to choke the system down going to 2.25". Too many decisions!

Iirc, that's when paired w/short tails. With the oem muffler it's a bit less. |
