Stillen gen 3 air intake

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to buy the Stillen gen 3 for my Nismo. How do you change the filters? Do you have to take the bumper off every time

Default Stillen gen 3 air intake

Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to buy the Stillen gen 3 for my Nismo. How do you change the filters? Do you have to take the bumper off every time you need to clean the filters?

Thanks,
Mike

Yes.
You don't need to clean or change them often

And once you take your bumper off a few times you get really good at it and it takes minutes

I'm looking to get this installed on my new NISMO as well. I understand you have to mod it somewhat to make it fit, right? I'm sure the instructions are on this forum somewhere, but I'm new so just wanting to confirm and to see how big of a job it is...

I got my intake in the box sitting in the garage, I'm just waiting to finish break-in of the vehicle, I think it's 1,500 miles, so far it only has 800 miles. I'm thinking about purchasing a F.I. oil cooler as well that way I can fit everything at once.

Has any of you heard of this? " When i took my Z to Specialty Z, they told me with the Stillen intake the car will run super Lean and its not good for the car. They recommend a Tune "

Anyway.. I took my car in when I got everything done.. CAI, TEST PIPES and CBE..
just wanted to see if anyone else was told that..

with 3 or more breathing mods it is recommended to get a tune but its ultimately up to u. It will help out a lot with a tune and make everything run smoother and release extra ponies.

Yeah, you would be better off with a tune.

Based on our dyno tuning we agree with what Specialty Z states IF combined with Test Pipes and Exhaust. The combo of all three (including the Stillen Gen 3) does lean out the car significantly.

A Stillen Gen III Intake by itself, without any other mods, will not lean out the car enough to be of any concern. It is only when you combine the intake with other supporting mods that when a Lean condition really becomes apparent and a tune is required.

I believe what the OP is referring to is that fitment is slightly different on a NISMO, or at least that's what Stillen's website says. They also state the instructions are not for a NISMO install and minor modification will be required.

ok.. maybe its what they meant, but not what I got from them.. but it doesnt matter since I got all three done including the tune.. yea, I gained quite a bit after the tune.

What just the Stillen Gen3 and a FI CBE? Will those two mods lean it out to much? I know that by tuning it will have more and better gains, but will it cause a problem. I still have the stocks cats and plan on keeping them or now.
