Nismo front bumper question

Quick question for you guys... The oem nismo front bumper center part, is it painted to black or unpainted with the original black bumper material? I bought mine used and the original owner had some damages on the front bumper and sides. He re-painted the whole front bumper PW included the center part. It's time to replace it with a new one. So I want to know if it is painted or unpainted.

If you mean the radiator opening. Mine is painted the same as the body. Gun Metallic.

If just the middle part with the little vertical bars then mine is black.

DEpointfive0 02-24-2014 01:41 AM

Dafuq?
Why is yours body color on the inside?

Elan 02-24-2014 02:20 AM

It should be black.

Lol. Because the previous owner sprayed the front bumper inside out.

Do you guys know the color code if it's painted to black? I highly doubt the center opening part is painted tho. Because if I buy a new bumper from Nissan it comes unpainted as black. So I might just paint the rest of the bumper PW and leave the center part as it is.

a quick tape and plastidip should fix that

fuct 02-24-2014 09:53 AM

mine looks like its just not painted, and cleared like mentioned above.

all white looks horrible. :(

I just bought a new bumper directly from Nissan and the whole thing was off gray, so the section in question would have to be painted. I could see where a reconditioned front bumper would be black, normally they do have a primer on them.

I'm sorry. I had a senior moment, brain fart. :icon14: Got black lips with a black tongue. Gun metallic background. I think. I'm not really sure of anything anymore.

Hmm... So it's gray? looks like I have to paint it to black. Or plasti dip.

NismoNox 02-24-2014 03:23 PM

I think just a clear coat should do you fine or Plast dip it black

I agree, actually, I remember I plasti dip the bottom part of the bumper and I never taped that center piece and the color matched it anyways

The black plasti dip matching with the center piece

Rangerz 02-25-2014 05:09 PM

It should be black look at my album i have some pics.

Boss_302 02-28-2014 02:54 PM

The opening is a matt/semi gloss black finish. This is from the research I did for my conversions
Also there is a paint code listed in the shop manuals that I remember seeing after the fact.

Don't want to open another thread so I will just ask here. When you remove the Nismo front bumper, you take off bolts 1 or bolts 2 or both? In the pic, they(1) look like bolts but on my car they look like clips. Are those clips or bolts?

Rangerz 03-06-2014 07:23 PM

you can do either but, #1 all the way across is easiest to get it back together. Don't forget the 2 10mm bolts under the fender linerers

Rusty 03-06-2014 09:21 PM

What he said. Remove the flat panel plastic rivets. The rivets under that. The two bolts in the fender corners. Then all of the #1's. ;)

Gotcha! I know the fender side is same as the regular 370z. Just not sure if I need to take off the front diffuser with the bumper by taking of all the #1s or leave the diffuser attached to the undertray by taking off all the #2s. I am going to take off the headlights. So I don't mind if the diffuser is attached to the undertray.

Also, in the pic above that I found on the internet, it looks like #1s are bunch of bolts. But mine are bunch of rivets like the pic below. What's on yours?

http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1394165904

Rusty 03-07-2014 08:04 AM

Mine is an '11 with bolts.

fuct 03-07-2014 09:35 AM

wish the bottom of my front end looked that new and unscratched up! haha

Hahah... After I drop the car I will join the club.

takjak2 03-07-2014 02:22 PM

#1 should be all bolts and removed to take the bumper off. Don't need to take any of #2 out to remove the bumper, they hold the "diffuser" to the facia
