Want to mod my Nismo but soooo confused
I've read so many different opinions on mods that I'm left confused. I've got a 2013 NISMO and would like a little louder sound with a little more power.
I'm thinking of adding: STILLEN 409 Stainless Steel Headers - Ceramic Coated - STILLEN Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems - Dual Wall Tips - My confusion lies in the best bang for the buck and I'm also worried about adding either one mod or a combination that effects power negatively somewhere along the power-band. For instance, I read somewhere this morning in a thread that said changing the headers is bad place to start because you don't get much of a power gain. I've also read so many conflicting opinions on the stock cat back that I don't know if changing it is even a good idea. Or should I just go with the Visconti tuning for $1k? This option intrigues me. Ugh! |

I would skip the headers and save your money for either a tune or another mod you want...Stillen headers are low on the bang for buck ratio. Getting a proper tune will help across the entire rev range.

You're throwing your money away if you go with shorty headers with the exception of the Z1 headers. The only headers that are worth a damn on a Z are long tube headers (except the previously mentioned Z1 headers). Just know that if you have to worry about inspections you're going to have issues by having the long tube headers.

If you do any type of header. The left side WILL take you 5 plus hours to do it. The right side only 1 hour. Been there and did it. Best bang per buck. G3's, CBE, and a tune to smooth out the power band and A/F. And a oil cooler.

I agree with all above.
Best bang for the buck IMHO would be: (in order) 1. HFC (Berks are nice) By far best bang for the buck if done with tune!!! 2. TUNE (most guys use dyno UPREV at local speed shop) 3. drop in replacement filters (K/N) or long tubes (don't bother with short tubes like JWT's because heat soak will steal much of the benefit...I know I have them) 4. CBE. expensive with slight gains...really just makes it sound better which is awesome.

best bang for the buck is to leave it stock. i know crappy answer but i would add an exhaust and drop in some K&N filters and call it a day. maybe a tune down the road.
if you want bang, then FI!!!!! but you will pay....... |

lol...
I think he only has 1k to spend. not enough to really do a lot to the car. HFC and Exhaust with a tune.. but a tune alone will run you $500. I say, save your money until you can get it all done. If you get a tune first, then upgrade, you will need a tune again. |
