I'm thinking of adding:
STILLEN 409 Stainless Steel Headers - Ceramic Coated -
STILLEN Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems - Dual Wall Tips -

My confusion lies in the best bang for the buck and I'm also worried about adding either one mod or a combination that effects power negatively somewhere along the power-band.

For instance, I read somewhere this morning in a thread that said changing the headers is bad place to start because you don't get much of a power gain.

I've also read so many conflicting opinions on the stock cat back that I don't know if changing it is even a good idea.

Or should I just go with the Visconti tuning for $1k? This option intrigues me.

Ugh!

Stillen G3 Long Tube CAI or similar will make your car louder at high RPM and you'll get a very small bump in performance. If you buy a set used you can get away with paying between $300-$350. Installation isn't too bad either, plenty of DIY's here on how to do it

Actually, right now about $2500

not enough to really do a lot to the car. HFC and Exhaust with a tune.. but a tune alone will run you $500. I say, save your money until you can get it all done. If you get a tune first, then upgrade, you will need a tune again.

I'm looking to spend no more than $2500 right now. The $1,000 mentioned in my post was referring to getting a Visconti tune.

If you race your car at all then an oil cooler.

First, very nice sound. Love it! Question, though, what is the difference between axel backs and cat backs. Sound? Performance? Is there a specific reason for going with one over the other?

Thanks.

When your talking basic bolt on's an engine is a basic air pump. The reason you shouldn't start with headers is because generally the catback on cars is restrictive. So if you replace headers your still going to be bottle necked by the catback. Its like a hose, regardless how big free flowing the end is if the front is kinked your only going to flow so much. Since you have a nismo from a power standpoint replacing the catback is a waste of money (unless you want a different tone). So for you it might make sense to start with headers, high flow cats, or intake.

IMHO the OP is probably best off getting this: Z1 400 HP Package, Stillen G3's, and a tune. Then save some more money and get a Fast Intentions CBE.

For what it's worth, F.I.'s 2.5" TDX is probably the most efficient bolt on you will get. Do drop ins filters and hard pipes (those may be custom), then you can see if you want to do more than tune. Maybe HFCs or TPs, but I wouldn't know. I went from 2.5" TDX and high flowing filters to twin turbo and 3" TT-TDX (well more than just that, but you get the idea).

Stillen intake and either litespeed titanium exhaust or fast intentions are the top choices for bang for the buck
