Really?! I thought that was the part that was causing the ride to be so... bumpy. lol. I saw some others had swifts on nismo struts but I think that was geared more for track. I even bought a set of nismo struts that I was going to put on my Z along with the swifts. Just decided to hold off. Well then. Guess it might be good news for me since I may just have a spare set of parts laying around. They are from a '12 model year though. Weren't there improvements/refinements for that year? Think these would be worth swapping out at the same time with the swifts since I'm already going to be in there?

Are Swift springs better than the Nismo springs? Well it increase handling?

pokeyl 09-20-2013 10:13 PM

How many NISMO owners keep the stock springs/dampers? I changed mine the week I bought the car! HKS hypermax and someday I will try the BC-ER's I have sitting at home. I just have not had time yet.

Buy what you want!

Change what you don't like

Enjoy and don't worry about numbers. Someone is always better, faster or something... Easy

honestly? the ones that come on the nismo are already pretty bad *** and it has several adjustable suspension parts. Unless your some kind of track guru or aspiring amature/future professional race car driver there is absolutely 100% ZERO reason to quote "upgrade" (slight) to any other setup. the only reason I can see is....... just to brag to other people what suspension you have. Dont get it unless you need it, and in this case you really dont, especially if all you do is daily drive the car. Even on big power Z's you only need to fiddle with engine internals, clutch, and POSSIBLY getting rid of that useless viscous rear LSD. no one in there right mind would say "boy I wish my nismo had a stiffer suspension" unless like i said..... bragging rights.

If you are going to change the struts and springs. Go with the Swift/Koni set-up. ;) Think it might be the best bang per-buck.

Don't think any of us really "need" a Z here, so we may as well all drive Prius? Lol.

i was waiting for someone to make that between the lines comment, actually thought of the one you just said in my head as I was typing my response. not needing a specific part of the car doesnt nullify having the car in the first place. In this case having a very stiff race suspension actually makes the car WORSE in every single aspect except one. racing it. and if your not going to race it, you dont NEED it because your in fact making your car worse. I personally dont like feeling like my spine is bolted to the chassis, have to creep over speed bumps sideways at .00001 mph "same for RR tracks" and have a misserable headache from bouncing around in the car after a 2 hour drive. I had those retarded ideas when I was 16, and have since grown out of it.

One could argue that my exhaust wasnt "needed" well no, ima squash that stupid comment before it starts. I made the car BETTER than it was before because it sounded like a prius. And there are no negatives to it, it in no way made the car worse than it was before no matter what im doing with it. NEED when i said it didnt imply a necessity to life as you literally took it, it was meant in the context of usefulness and pros/cons.

And..... the 1/4 time is common sense, cars with a stiff rear cant hook, especially with low pro tires. But if you learn to DRIVE the car, which these reviewers have not as they have it for a day...... you learn to launch it. Ive raced 5 stock for stock sports and bases against my nismo and I havent lost yet in the 1/4. Im no god driver ether, im claiming its 100% car not driver. This is my second nismo. I owned a base first, then a sport, then an 09 red nismo, now the 13. yes it handles better....... but omfg be warned, its the worlds most uncomfortable car EVER on normal roads. if you ran over some change on the road, you could tell if its a quarter or a nickle.

Believe it or not, even though the nismo has some really stiff suspension, it really isn't that bad compared to my veloster.

My veloster going over the same bump feels like im falling off a cliff or something. At speeds, the nismo at least rebounds a lot better than the veloster. Veloster at speed going over a bump makes it lose traction and lose control.

The Veloster is my daily and when I jump into the Z, it feels like a huge upgrade. LOL

chii370 09-22-2013 08:03 PM

oh.... wow I was considering one of those briefly....... you just convinced me otherwise. I will just buy another WRX like I always do. cheap, reliable, safe, and nothing beats them for a winter workhorse.

I echo the rebound comment. Low speed, it's stiff, not for everyone. However, traveling triple digit through banked curves with uneven surfaces/dips, the stockers do keep the car balance in check quite well IMHO.

Some cars, spring may be stiff but the damper can't keep the spring in control, I feel that nismo's oem shocks does the job in this area.

I actually agree with this guy.. They made a hell of a car off the lot. The thing handles great as is! I wont ever change the suspension. But I have changed the intake, got rid of the catalytic converters, and bought a real nice exhaust, had it tuned and that is about all I am doing to it. Oh yea.. I have a clutch waiting to get slapped in.

Braking and handling are better on the 370z sports package. Nismo looks way better doe.

They're the same brakes. Nismo looks are subjective.
