I did this... Originally to go to the shooting range, then I got lazy and never put the crap back... Then I decided I was going deaf, then I added sound deadening...
The original plastic pieces quiet down the car almost, if not more than sound deadening.
Also, there are a lot of screws sticking out and the spare wheel thing sticking out, it's a BITCH to productively pack your trunk without the plastics in there
