2014 Nismo build mistake?
 

Ok so I was checking out the options for the 2014 Nismo so I went to Nissan's website and started building away. When choosing a color, the body kit seems to be the same color as the paint of the car and not gun metal. Is this just a mistake on Nissan's part because we clearly have seen the car with the gun metal accents like in this video. :ugh2:

I am a Nissan employee and ordered my magnetic black 2014 Nismo back in May and still haven't gotten a VIN number yet. My delivery date is mid September but I kinda doubt that will come. As for the body front lip spoiler and side skirt rails I heard they were black. I wonder if it's all based on what exterior color the car is?!?!?

They're actually gun metal as well. I saw a 2014 Nismo being sold on autotrader which was magnetic black with gun metal lip, side skirts, mirrors, etc. I kinda wonder for the gun metal what they'll do for the secondary color. Here's the link to the one I saw

I noticed the same thing on the website but so far I've seen 3 out of the 4 colors being sold and all had the gun metal accents. The only one I have seen is the gun metal. Figure that may have black but not sure on that

EDIT: Actually I took another look on autotrader and found a gun metal version. It appears that it doesn't have the secondary color or if it does its very faint. I figured they would use black in this case but apparently not. Kinda odd since the other three do have that secondary

I'm not sure if I like the gun metal with the black. I get is a one year lease and I would consider buying it if my serial number is low enough. Again though I'm not sure about that color matching.

I like the gunmetal on a red or white one, but black...from the side it just looks like Nissan forgot to paint it. Especially towards the back where the gunmetal extends up along the wheel arch. The red stripe though is absolutely hideous and makes the car looks cheap. :shakes head:

Thanks for clearing things up. Looks like it's just a mistake on Nissan's website. Good really throw off some buyers though. :ugh2:

Generally I'm not a big fan of white cars but I do really like the 2014 pearl white Nismo. Out of the 4 it's probably my favorite. The magnetic black with gun metal does look kinda odd and I'm a bit surprised that it appears they didn't do anything with the gun metal Nismo from the link I posted. It definitely does remind me of the late 350Z Nismo with how they did the 2014's.

Looks like my 2013 Mag Black Nismo just went up in value.. The 2014 black Nismo looks horrible! The white looks good but the black looks unfinished for sure and the red accents look cheap as well on the black.
The gray one actually appears to be slightly darker then the gunmetal color so it looks like the painter was off in color matching rather then its a two tone.

Fail for Nissan here for sure, a HP bump would have been the thing most wanted to see.

Shave 200 pounds off (weight 3100ish)
Recaro seats with Nismo embroidery (Black with red stitch)
Nismo shift knob exclusive to Nismo
Carbon fiber top portion of wing
Nismo intakes

Who would have liked that for the "revisions"? :)

The website is all jacked up, if you expand sport package options > brakes, it says "to keep its 350 horses in check the 370 NISMO..."

I'm still wondering why the touring package costs 5000 on the Coupe and $3000 on the convertible

Does anyone know if you can get full gun metallic colour in Europe? I'm from Poland and my dealer has told me that it's impossible.

Anything is possible with the right amount of money.

I am going to ask them about it. In addition, to be honest I don't think that black/gun metallic combo is that bad. It looks "stealth" in a good way.

lol im honestly surprised it took people so long to notice that. I noticed right away when I saw a "not white" 14 that all nissan did was take one look at the 13's rims and said to themselves "DERP THATS PURDY LETS PAINT OTHER STUFF WITH IT" and proceeded to do the lip, skirts, and wing. Instead of doing what Z fans actually want. for example, factory turbo.... like every generation of Z had till the 350, and its revised slightly upgrade the 370. and some god damn leather seats!!!! the JDM version had leather seats, sat nav and a stereo system since 2009!!!! sometimes I wonder to myself why I even like my nismo so much when I get constantly reminded by nissan they just dont give a **** anymore.

and no, for the record. the 14's new look is retarded. If you went to see fast and furious and said to yourself on the way out of the theater "I wanna be just like that one day" then its the right look for you. They are turning it into the stereotypical rice ball look that not every foreign car driver actually WANTS to be associated with. It just has that modded after markety look to it right off the show room floor. Its like putting a fart can on the back of a 458 Italia, you just dont mess with a car that looks this good already or anything you do just makes it worse, or makes it look like your a 15 year old.

New look? What new look? Have you seen the 350 Nismo? The only "new look" is that red stripe which I think is :superghey:

lol I meant the fake CF lip, side skirts, wing and yes that stupid red pin stripe on the mirrors and rear. Its almost like nissan sat down at a meeting with the intentions of fixing the horrendous sales of the nismo, saw a butterfly halfway through the meeting and all of them chased it except one of the new half retarded interns who then colored in parts of the car and put stripes on it......... who also probably got promoted for their stupidity.

If you look closely at the fugly Juke, the nismo version is EXACTLY THE SAME. lame CF and red pin stripes FTW.

The good news is our 2013 Nismos are the best out of all the 370z years and lineup :)... Red calipers, Nismo aero without two tone, no cheesy pinstripes and gunmetal wheels.
I personally would have been pissed if I bought a 2013 after passing on the 2012 and then a 2014 comes out with more power, real carbon aero parts, recaro seats or a turbo... Nissan did me a faovr and solidified I made the right buying decision :)

Couldn't agree anymore! I bought my 2013 late in the game and was so close to just waiting for the 2014's. I kept going back and forth on what to do and for the longest time I thought I would miss out on something by not just waiting a couple months. Thank god I didn't wait and go for a 2014. Not only was my 2013 quite a bit cheaper, everything you mentioned is what I like about it. So glad I didn't buy a 2014.

Geez, you guys are a little harsh on the 2014's. I don't really understand what is so bad about it... so the lower trim is painted gun metal, like the 350z Nismo... so that makes the 2014 Nismo crap? We all know that Nissan isn't going to upgrade the performance... hell they can't even sale 10k units a year. So was anybody really surprised when all that was done was cosmetic enhancements?

I agree. I personally not a big fan of the 14's 2 tone look. But why you guys hate so much? Looks are subjective. And it's not THAT bad imo. R8 has 2 tone why you guys don't call it rice. GT40 has stripes why you guys don't hate? 911 GT3 has a big wing like our nismo out of the box so it's cheap?? Come on guys you all know the nismo is a track version of the 370. Of course it will look aggressive. If you think it's rice and cheap, then you've bought a wrong car in the first place. Also, as long as it's a z34 you won't see a turbo v6 version of it.

I loveeeee the 2014. I have always been a fan of the 350 Nismo when I had my 350 so the two-tone with gun-metal rims and painted calipers brings back some nostalgia. I just don't like that dang stripe! Would I trade in my 2009 for the 2014 over a 2013? Absolutely.

There's nothing wrong with a two tone but the accent color should be complimentary to the main body color. The white 2014 Nismo is the only one that looks decent.
They should have done flat black for an accent off the Mag black BUT not do that much of the side skirt only the very bottom.
The pin stripe looks decent on the mirror but the front and rear do not enhance the look at all.

As for the cars you listed- R8 doesn't have a two tone, the Ford GT is an american car, and american muscle cars since the 50s-60s always used stripes etc so its common and accepted for that market. I didn't hear anyone say anything about the Nismos big wing either. ----

Well, my point is looks are subjective. Although I agree some of what you said, I am sure there will be a lot 2014 nismo fans out there still. Just like when the 370 just came out, the 350 guys called it a joke, a catfish a whatever but we still love it. Opinions are fine but no need to bash on the 2014 nismo.

I don't think the 2014 looks horrible just much less appealing wise then the 2013 Nismo. Again, the white 2014 Nismo looks great, the magnetic black looks bad. The Gray accent color does not compliment the gloss black paint.

Looks are subjective for sure but in my opinion they didn't do the best job for the last year of the 370z. They could have done black housing for the headlights, the new Nismo emblem with the red O and called it a day. Those would have been a nice little touch that's tasteful.

I'm sure we will see some nasty looking 2014s that we will think look great but until then it hasn't grown on me yet.
