Nismo front License bracket?

Hello All, I am looking to get a front license plate bracket for my Z (Only because I live in Cali and the fuzz has already pulled me over TWICE! in 2 months)

Looking online I see the tow hook option (I don’t want to drill holes in my bumper) but I see it is only for the base model and not the Nismo...

Anybody seen anything out there for the Nismo model?

any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance my Z friends

:tiphat:

I purchased a Nismo about a month ago and the front license plate mount was the first thing I put on (to avoid cops). I wanted to offset the plate using the two bar as a mount. I researched and found that the Stillen front plate mount was too short (by about 3 inches) due to the Nismo bumper. I finally settled on getting the Moweraxle design. I've had no issues at all, it was a quick and simple install, and no holes in the actual bumper. In total it was about $100 shipped.

Order one from MowerAxle. They have Nismo and standard versions. The quality and looks are awesome. Plus the mounting location can be moved around to suit your taste. They're machined stainless steel mounting on the tow hook mount. Fast service too. See my attached pix and the link

I got my mount from Mower Deck Axle Co., LLC Extremely well made, and extremely easy to install. Shipping is extremely fast. I ordered on Friday and it was here first thing Monday morning, and packaged very well with all hardware and clear instructions. Very impressed and the customer service is top notch. I believe it's just Larry who runs this company.

fuct 06-25-2013 02:32 PM

on the stillen bracket i modified, ive moved the plate location as high as i could so im not blocking so much of the limited air opening we have. just food for thought.

There are actually counter sunk holes top and bottom all across on this one, that I believe adds more flexibility than rhe one from Stillen.

I just got mine yesterday. Larry ships right away and all the pieces are solid quality. I like the fact that these come with multiple mounting locations and it looks great! It's nice to see a mounting option for the nismo

tjlazer 06-26-2013 04:18 PM

Yes moweraxle. Larry did a great job on mine. I had him shorten it to a custom length so it didn't stick out.

i like the placement of yours, i just cant sacrifice blocking that much area in the little opening we have already. atleast not this time of year....

AMG 07-05-2013 08:23 PM

You would think that Nissan would have this standard on the Z instead of the dimples on the front fascia for where a license plate will go which totally sucks!!

chii370 07-06-2013 03:46 PM

I mounted mine by not mounting one. cops can suck a ****, theres a plate on the back of the car if they are that concerned about it. some states have a "law" which isnt actually a law at all that a plate is "required" on the front, look into that and tell me what you find.

its one of those laws like cell phones on planes. if you tell enough stupid people its a law with no viable reason, then they will believe it and it becomes one. too bad they are taking it back..... after being a "law" for what? 20 some years?

the mount nissan came up with is actually better for air flow than the way we are mounting it with the toy hook. only prob is it looks ugly and you have to drill holes.

Shawberger 07-08-2013 03:54 PM

I know its a law in Cali, I have had one too many "fix it" tickets ...just another reason for them to pull you over and look for other "mods" while they are at it

aaron johnson 07-08-2013 06:01 PM

I have a mower axle one that is no longer needed. $80 shipped

look for mods? lol ive never had a cop ask me to pop the hood. and im PRETTY sure they cant. They are even getting more lax on exhausts now, hell have you heard an SLS AMG go by? or many of the other STOCK high end cars now...... they are loud as ****, hell the SVT raptor has a button that makes it louder ON PURPOSE. so really the only thing they can bug you about is maybe tinting? and thats if they are just TRYING to be an *******. I had one try to give me a tinting ticket when i didnt even HAVE tinting, it was 100% stock. upholds the stereotypes of why people generally dont like the police. But I live in an area where there are porches, mercs, lambos all the time and they would be getting pulled every 10 seconds if the police around here gave 2 ***** about car "mods" thats something you have to worry about in areas where they dont see them very often.

In CA they absolutely can, and the ticket is pretty painful. And in many states, a front plate is required by law. An actual law. One that gets me an $80 ticket every few years since I refuse to follow it.

chii370 07-14-2013 09:28 AM

That doesnt surprise me in the least. In VA there is also a law that you are to pay taxes on any car you own until the day you die based on the cars original MSRP even though you already paid taxes on the car when you bought it and in some cases in a completely different state. **** THAT. Im not one for breaking laws but that one is revolution worthy there...... You know, back in the day when people would actually fight for their rights instead of being a retarded lemming not even realizing what laws they may or may not have helped the federal government and each individual state enact. I would rather pay the 80$ fine instead of the couple grand a year for the tax thank you very much. same for the license plate thing, give me ONE rational reason why you would NEED a front plate, even from the perspective of a police officer. when you get pulled over, have any of you been driving in reverse? And even at low speeds, standing stationary and having a car go by you on the side of the road its pretty hard to get a glimpse of the whole plate and remember each letter accurately. even then, they will just pull out if they wanna get you and read THE BACK. Its there just to make people have one more thing they could be funding state or county revenue with. Its law because dumb people made it law without even realizing it.

Cali is a horrible place to live, talk about oppressive nonsense. VA is hot on its heels on the bullshitometer. Not only are they unjustifiably the most expensive states to live, along with jersey, florida, new york and hawaii. They also have the harshest laws and most taxes of any states. Im movin the hell away from this hell hole, since people seem to have forgotten what it means to say "no" Head for Ohio, its nice, one of the CHEAPEST states with the LOWEST taxes and has stupid laws but not as many. Plus 99% of its rural, suburb, and country. So unless you LIKE noisy, crowded overpopulation, with 2 hour commutes 3 blocks with people who would walk right by if you were getting mugged......... lol. Oh and did I mention you dont need a front license plate? like the forum thread YAY!!

oh... and If you chose to go FI? wouldnt that block like..... half of your air intake capability? Just saiyan. "intentional"

Apollo8642 07-15-2013 04:44 PM

I've seen the vinyl sticker license plates around. I'm not sure how legal that is but if it's your license plate and it's on the front of your car, it might be worth a try.

fuct 07-16-2013 03:25 PM

i would think making a fake plate (vinyl) would carry with it a whole set of other legal issues....

be like making a drivers licence sticker and showing a cop that instead of an actual plastic license.

I can imagine this being a far larger ticket than not having a front plate at all.

tjlazer 07-16-2013 05:08 PM

I don't think it would be an issue if you had a replica plate like that mounted, as long as it looked just like the real plate and had the same number. Good idea. Where can one get one made like that?

In a lot of states the plates are technically their property, and you'd be making a forgery. I'd do some serious reading of your state's vehicle laws before I did something like that.

how long does the rod have to be to clear the bumper?

3.25" longer than the stillen rod. sorry im sure that doesnt really help.

Maximum RPM 12-30-2013 09:25 PM

I believe around 8" to clear. I did a quick measure but the plate is in the way at the moment so I couldn't get an exact measurement. I had mine custom made at moweraxle.com. I had Larry take the standard NISMO rode and shorten it by 1 3/8 so it is tucked up under the bumper just inside the grill area. Hopefully this helps.

I got mine today. Absolutely the best quality. Fits great. I highly recommend this for anyone needing a front plate mount.

Thanks Larry@moweraxle.com

SwissCheese 10-14-2014 08:48 PM

How secure is the bracket? I'm assuming it holds up to highway speeds, but I was just curious if anyone has ever had a problem with it coming off.

Corsairprime 10-15-2014 05:39 PM

Bracket Fit

Yes, its fine at all speeds. The mount is very secure. Just remove when washing. Including FB links, hope they work
