Front Bumper mounting problems
 
I have had trouble with the front bumper braking the 3 lower plastic push rivets (the ones under the car, covered by the access panel) at high speeds. I have a GTM supercharger installed and the right side inner fender fit is poor. I can only get the outer pop rivet in. Also I did not install the foam brace in front of the crash bar. Turbo guys don't even have a crash bar and the extra airflow real helps.

Any time I pass someone at 90-100MPH the rivets brake and the front start bouncing up and down.

I have to stop and put in fresh rivets.

I have though about 1/4 inch self tapping screws.

Anyone else had any having problems?

This dose show that the front generates down force at speeds.

I'm also having similar issues with the front bumper at high speeds. The splash panel that connects with the front bumper becomes loose at high speeds causing air to get in and flex the front bumper. My front driver side wheel well cover also came loose at high speed. The metal bracket that held the pop rivet and wheel well cover snapped right off :(

When I clipped a curb at my last trackday. I broke those 3 rivets. I went to Lowes and got 3 well nuts. Haven't had a problem since. ;)

Shop Standard (SAE) Well Nuts at Lowes.com!

What size did you use? that black lip is falling off one of the corners on my z.

I only replaced the 3 under the access panel. You have to measure the hole, and get that size well nut. ;)

I had the same problem when I put my GTM SC in I trimmed the right lower shield to help it match and fit without a issue.

Plus I used bolts and nuts to secure allot of under shields.

without the long rectangle piece that covers the three main pop rivets you get a turbulent air flow under the car which puts strain on those three pop rivets. they eventually break and you have a flappy front end at anything over 80mph!

I have the ZSpeed diffuser under there. It doesn't have that panel anymore. ;)

it also uses better hardware to hold it up, doesnt it?

also its possible to drive without the rectangle piece, hell ive been doing it for over a year. i just have to make sure the three pop rivets are holding strong. :P

yea there is something to say about the OEM pieces and how much of a beating they can take.

I have the same problem with the GTM Stage 1 SC kit. I think you are referring to the the 3 holes on each side of the undertray where it meets the fender lining. The arrows pointing UP in the picture.

I tried to make some adjustments but the IC piping on the passenger side and the remote thermostatic adapter on the driver side prevent me from using the OEM pop clips.

I tried to use well nuts this weekend and the holes are just too far off for that either. For now, I am using zip ties. You can see in the photo (white arrows) where the IC piping contacts the undertray and where the thermostatic adapter also contacts the undertray.

I have not had any problems with the rectangle piece or the three pop clips under it that hold it to the car and I might have seen 140 on speed. However, I think well nuts for those three would be ideal. See arrows pointing DOWN in the picture.

I don't have a shot of the passenger side, but this shows the drivers side. The arrows point to the 3 pop clip locations.

You can also see the remote thermostatic adapter plate and it is right on the inner most hole. When I try and match with the fender liner, the holes are a good 3/4" to 1" off. If you try and make them match up, it puts a lot of pressure on the thermostatic adapter plate so not good.
