FI CF CBE installed on 2012 Nismo!

After much delay, I finally installed the FI CF CBE (w/ 12" resonators) on my 2012 Nismo. A couple quick notes for anybody who's on the fence.

First, the car sounds INSANE. In a good way, of course. I've never heard the SS version in person (or any other brand exhaust), but I can't imagine anything sounding better than this.

Second, I had concerns that I would lose power vs. the stock Nismo exhaust. I haven't dynoed the vehicle, but it felt faster and not just at the high end. I left the negative terminal of the battery off during the install hopefully my ECU is already learning to deal with its newfound respiratory abilities.

Third, the carbon fiber cans look fantastic. I think most untrained eyes won't even notice them because the dark color gives them kind of a stealth effect... but so far, those who have are unanimously in love w/ the CF look.

I also have Berk HFCs, so that should be taken into account... but the new addition of the exhaust has made me fall back in love with my car once again.

I didn't take any during the install; I thought about doing a DIY, but I did the install at a friend's personal shop and he has a newborn, so I didn't want to infringe too much on his time.

Here's a ghetto pic of the finished product, albeit on a dirty car. Damn this Seattle weather; I just got the car fully detailed and waxed a week ago. Ouch.

I have the same exhaust.. Everyone trips out on the carbon fiber cans!! Everyone always comments on how sick it sounds too.
I have the Stillen CAI and the FI test pipes. I also had my tuned my Specialty Z...

Congrats by the way!

I'm not sure how you could ever be worried about this, but trust that there is nothing to fear. F.I. only adds power.

I think he means losing low end to gain top end, which IMO that's a huge compromise when you are driving the car on the street.

I personally would rather have more usable power over having all top end power and high HP numbers.

After a few days, I honestly do think I lost a little low end... Typically, I never downshift and I pass with ease. It seems just a bit more labored now. That said, it does pull harder once I crest maybe 5500 RPMs and the sound at all RPMs is so sweet.

As Luigi said, low end = usable power on the street so I'm once again considering the M370 manifold since, from the dyno sheets I've seen, it seems bring up that low end at the expense of a little high end.

Not to mention Birdman has that youtube video with M370, Berk HFCs, and FI CBE and his car sounds ridiculously good.

You might be able to regain the lost power with a tune but that will only do so much.

I would love to know how the M370 is with your exhaust.

I think it's time for you to have your car tuned. The exhaust, hfc/tp and CAI gain HP overall. But mainly the powerband is at high end. And you will feel sluggish at low/mid end. A fine tune don't necessary gain you much peak power but it definitely can correct your A/F ratio from running lean or rich. And you will definitely gain a lot mid range torque thus you will feel the car accelerates effortless.

I'm just nervous about voiding the warranty. I had some issues w/ the dealership (they stiffed me on the 3M I paid for and went out of business like a week after I bought the car), so I had to settle up with corporate and all they could do was beef up my warranty. I still don't necessarily understand the ramifications of a tune w/ respect to warranty, but it sounds like it's voided if they detect a re-flash if there were any drivetrain issues...?
