Apologies for the ignorance and for hijacking the thread... but what does this do? Just eliminates the column locking up w/o the key fob inside or am I misinterpreting it?

Test Pipes & the Red Start Button. Awesome noise for the outside, shiny thing to stare at on the inside. Add Tint if you want to hide your silly grin when you romp on it for the first time after adding first item ; )

I don't agree with people who just spout off vendors.

It's all about what you want to accomplish. For instance I went with takeda C.A.I. because I don't want to cut. If the OP doesn't want to cut stillen Gen 3 might not be for him.

I will say though that a C.A.I. is cheap and offers pretty decent WHP for the money. Which one you want is up to your needs though.

Also test pipes are a cheap way to get extra HP at the wheels.

Exhausts are expensive and with the above 2 mods they don't actually yield much in terms of extra power. So if you do get an exhaust, do it because you like the sound :)

Breathing mods are a quick and cheap way to get up to 310-320 WHP IMO But don't just go with what everyone else has. Do some research. Buy what YOU want and what works for YOUR needs.

King: our car doesn't have the steering lock problem. You don't need to worry about it. Also don't forget to check the suspension for those black transport thingies that dealerships ALWAYS forget to remove.

After today I will officially be "out of things to do" to the car assuming I leave it NA :(

I'm getting close. :D

Just look at my journal thread for things to do.

I want those RC brake duct vents badly but the price is ridiculous for what would basically amount to an aesthetic.

I'm actally about on-par with you for mods believe it or not.

Hell my journal has info on every bolt on mod outside of a lightweight flywheel. I def agree with Gauge on this topic though. the differences between most aftermarket parts are within a few %. Then it starts becoming an aesthetics, reliability, and support thing. There are a few standouts though in the performance area. Most Vendors here will work to resolve issues, at least the ones on this forum. There are a handful that have not, and it's easy to find those complaints.

To date I have had great success with Motordyne, AE performance, AEM, Tanabe, GTM, NST, PPE, Z1, as well as inquiries with Boosted Performance, Fast Intentions, AAM, and Uprev. Some folks swear by Stillen G3's, F.I. exhausts, and Motordyne ART pipes. Everyone has opinions, if enough opinions are the same, then that is a good indicator of aesthetics, reliability, performance, and support.

what's your budget?

dmhenderson 02-20-2013 01:51 PM

Who me? Or the OP?

Too much effort for a motor not designed to take that kind of strain. To get a reliable stage 2 TT build up and running, expect to spend between 10-15k and there's still no guarantee your motor won't end up in the junkyard and say goodbye to your warranty if it does.

I would do it only if I had a sponsorship of some kind and although I've put out feelers (since I hit the show circuit pretty hard). I have yet to get a serious bite.

If you don't believe me, go read some of the horror stories in the FI forum and see how easy it is to annihilate your car.

Welp, you shouldn't have bought a nismo if your intent was to mod it (I kinda regret it). I've removed most of what made the Nismo car a nismo save the body kit and wheels.

Now that it's "done" I really love it but could have probably built the same car for 5k less than I ended up paying.
