NISMO Front Fascia Chin Guard

Does anyone know of anything to help our cars not get so scratched up under the front bumper? Any advice is appreciated.

Take all curbs/speedbumps/inclines at moderate to extreme angles. You'll have to practice (ie ... get scratches) on items you regularly drive over.

Stop much further back from parking blocks/parking curbs/etc. than you think you should.

If the above doesn't help, they make things like curb ramps you can temporarily/permanently install to help with things like driveway curbs.

The black part under the bumper is removable and a new one is around $80 so I wouldn't worry to much about it. Just my 2c.

$80? Link Link Link

No way to avoid any scratches on that thing!! I have been driving lowered cars for a long time and know how to take drive ways, exits, but you just cant avoid them all. Just live with it, and like what Realale said, a new one is cheap.

Realale 02-18-2013 05:17 PM

Sorry $83.80 https://www.nissanpartsdirect.com/oempartscat.html

F2026-1A47A Fascia - Lower Chin > $300.

NISMO ftw

Realale 02-18-2013 05:40 PM

Oh I was looking at the lower cover bracket. Your right. Disregard what I said. There's still no way to keep it from scratching up.

tjlazer 02-18-2013 06:58 PM

Yeah that part is around $400. The nice thing is you can use sand paper to sand it down and fix any scratch marks. Use fine sandpaper to smooth it out after. Save $.

If you have a rolling curb driveway you can get some Bridjit ramps.

This pretty much sums it up

This is what happens when you clip a curb at speed. Everything behind the bumper that holds that black piece on in that corner is broke. Bent my ZSpeed undertray in that corner in a 90deg angle.

Thats exactly what i did, i broke all the hardware that attaches it. and by broke i mean the hardware itself is fine, but the actual attaching body is ripped away from the top part of the bumper. Only way to repair is drill a hole underneath and zip tie together.

I wrapped mine in 3m CF and just re-wrap when the new scrapes are visually unacceptable. This way you protect that piece and have extra cf eye candy to look at :).

Nice! I have the same ramps. Butttttt I still scrape my front under piece lol:ughdance:

Kendrick777 02-19-2013 04:40 AM

Thanks for all the input guys. Its appreciated. I was just wondering cuz theres a parking lot I pull into that is very steep. I think I could get away with pulling into it at an angle with no scratches. But as far as pulling out of it onto the main road im at a decline. So I was actually thinking of trying to back into the main road when its clear. But with my luck a cop will see me and give me a ticket. haha Those would be the most expensive scratches to avoid!

I got my 2011 370Z NISMO in May. On the way out to Nellis AFB to train, I hit a piece of tire in the road which required fascia replacement. Now one of the screws that holds in the black trim part underneath the fascia is missing. Can I pick up a few of these at Nissan?

Be extra careful

Stay out of New Orleans (LOL!). The reality is we're driving low-riding sports cars, so I think it's a case of being a bit more careful -- especially when driving city streets and dealing with curbs.

I just replaced my front end chin spoiler (NISMO version) and bumper for $2,200 -- to include pain job. Not over the top expensive, but I could have used the money elsewhere.

It was the result of driving the busted up, high-curb, deep sloping driveways of New Orleans and Chalmette for nearly two years. Since I've since headed out Texas way, I figured it was time to fix 'er up.

I intend to be extra cautious from here on out.

Use the angle

I always came in on a angle parallel to the bottom of the driveway and then turned up ... you know, riding the street and driveway a bit and then slowly turning up into it. It's a bit tricky, but you can't go straight in.

tu_clean, would you mind taking a picture to show us what it looks like up close? Thanks.

NissanGuy23 08-28-2013 03:22 PM

Mines a continuing problem. Any zip tie fixes just rip apart at speed. If i hit higher speeds, my wheel well liner gets pulled back from the wind and rubs on the tire. I have a 4x4" hole in the well liner now and tons of melted plastic all over. Such a mess. Im going to have to get it on a lift and do a alot of work with bolts and do some real heavy duty fix - or, go through insurance and see if they can replace.

Problem is 3 of the bolts cant be used on the edge because of material missing from both the bumper and the bottom plastic portion, so a real fix includes replacing the bumper, under tray and well liner.
