Default Looking to purchase a 2011 Nismo and need a few questions answered

Okay guys I'm fairly new to the community here but I'm looking for some advice on buying a 2011 Nismo 370 sitting at our local Nissan dealer lot.

The car has been sitting on the lot(well in the dealers possesion) for two years now since it came out brand new in 2011, but for much of its time they have been allowing the store managers to drive the car to "promote" business for the dealership. The car had over 5k mi. On it back in June and has been steadily driven consantly since then so I going to assume atleast 7k now and has never even been titled to anyone yet!, and they are asking the $42K brand new sticker price for a car that is well past broke in. I guess my big question is how much would you guys offer for the car? Also I'm curious as to if anyone has dealt with penfed for a new auto loan before, I've heard many mixed emotions about them but I'm not too impressed with the current credit union I have my 350z financed thorough so I'm open to try someone else.

Any help would be wonderful!

I would not pay more then 35k for that car and that is high.. Try 33 and see what they say. But they are crazy to ask for 42k on a car that people have bought for 38k NEW! that car is no longer new.
good luck.

Also was this car driven in the winter by them at all? If so I'd definitely us that to argue the price down even more.

Another point is tire wear. Don't know if you've priced a new set of tires for the Nismo but I can tell you there are not cheap (easily a grand or more for a good set of rubber).

This happened to me when I was buying my Z. I originally wanted red, but the only red one they had on the lot was being driven by the owner...it had 5k miles on it. I told them I would buy it if they came down on the price...but they wouldn't budge and said just because it had the miles...it's still a "new" car and couldn't budge as much as I wanted. Mind you this was for an 09 sport/tourning and not a Nismo. Ultimately we haggled back and forth and I ended up getting a silver 2009 sport/touring for a grand over what I was offering for the red one lol.

For you...I wouldn't even think about paying more than $35k for it...not with 7k miles on it. Also, as others have mentioned...what is the tire wear like? Even for just the sport...my tires ran me around $1,100. If you do decide to get this one...make sure to go over the car with a fine toothed comb. A lot can happen to the body of a car in 7k miles...especially if it was driven in the winter.

Walk away and tell them to of here. They are crazy. Can they tell you that every person that drove the car in question knew how to drive a standard and didn't F the clutch/gears up?? I'm sure you can find one somewhere else for a better price. Look in the ads on this forum.

Peace out,

I was able to get invoice on new with less than 20 miles from San Antonio. I had to drive a few hours, but well worth the time involved.

Thanks for the help guys I'm going to check the car out tonight at 7 and I will inspect it thouroughly then, if they aren't willing to budge 35k and under I think I might try my luck with someone from the fourums who has their nismo for sale. I'm not going to pay out my arse for a car that someone else may have used as a company liability "play toy" from what I understand talking to the Internet sales man only the district manager has driven the car, irrigardless it's far from "new" because when I looked at it six months ago it had normal rock chips and such on it as it was not to mention the 5k miles. These people are crazy if they think I will finance this car for more than $35,000. Wish me luck guys! And thanks again to all of you I appreciate it

I've been with PenFed ever since I financed a '08 350z Nismo through them. I was actually referred through my350z.com. Every loan I every applied for through them I was approved for. Even when others (capital one, etc.) wouldn't give me a loan at 6% for the 350z they gave me a loan at 2.49%.

Right now I got my 370z Nismo financed through them for 1.49%. Their rates are great and so is their service.

I talked them down to 35k and my credit was approved but sadly I have no cosigner to get the payments down to where we agreed on so Im not sure where I go from here? Does this mean that I could accept the numbers quoted and pay an astonishing interest rate(, but even then will accepting high interest rates vs. having a cosigner get me approved?) or do I apply with penfed and see what they say I'm just a little leery after reading much about if penfed doesn't like you they will drop you off the face of the earth and end all contact with you if they decide they dont like you or don't want to finance you. My only other dilemma with penfed is how likely am I to get a zero -$2000 downpayment loan through them. I don't want to make a rash decision by any means, but this dancing every time I try and get out of this 350 is getting old I've done a lot of homework but Im running out of ideas

what is the high rate? You can always refinance after a while.. I guess it all comes down to how badly you want it and how much money you have room for.

FWIW, I bought my 2011 Nismo used in Sep last year. Car had 1,700 miles and lots of extras. Paid $33k to a private seller.

I agree with others. If the tires are good, don't pay more than $35k. If needs tires, knock off $1k.
