Going To My First AutoX!!
Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know that there is an event going on in Montery Bay for Autocross. It is this Sunday early in the morning. Fee is $35.
Is there anything I should check before running the course? THanks again guys! Johncy |
:excited: Oh my god! :excited:
So much fun-i did not drive yet-roda only-driving next spring.... Most of the advice i received was only go as fast as you feel comfortable with. I saw several experienced drivers spin out on the course-actual 360's-didnt seem to be a big deal. Very intense-if you get motion or car sick highly advise dramamine in advance! Have fun! Take some video for us! Woop!:driving::happydance: |

good luck man! you've got a lot of power to play with

I will be keeping a close eye on the oil temps because the 11's don't have an upgraded oil cooler.
|
Have fun-be careful! Dont damage the rocket!!! :)

Well I can honestly say I had one of the funnest days of my life today. My first Autocross was epic. I improved my laptimes by 1.5 seconds each run in a total of 4 runs. There is nothing like a real wheel drive car like the Z. I've owned an Evo 8 RS and the Z just kills it in terms of fun. VDC OFF! FTW!

Glad you had a great time!
I've only been to a handful of autocrosses.. but the ones I attended were always dominated by little cars. Seemed like the more powerful cars never got a chance to really shine because the courses were too small/tight. Maybe once I get my Z, I'll have to give autox a shot. You've rekindled my interest. =] |

I just remember seeing tons of Miatas and hearing the announcer say, "Miata get a real car." :roflpuke2: And, I'm getting a Z! My Nismo is on order. Just waiting for it to get here. November! :eekdance: |
Nice my friend! You will love the Nismo! And miatas dominated the track. My friend ran 58 sec lap in his miata 1.8. And I ran a 60 sec lap. O well. lol It was my first time autox'ing so my fried had the advantage.

Nice to see another Nismo at UFO events! Your car is beautiful! I was having fuel starve and tune issues but still managed to do ok. I was testing how low I could go with my new setup. I'm always impressed how well big 3000 lb plus Nismo does at these events. I run in XP with stripped out race cars and usually hang with them time wise in my street legal Nismo. Most of race cars in XP are 1000 lbs less than big heavy street legal Nismo I drive. Marina is perfect for drifting. When my car was stock I drifted it a couple times out there. Very easy car to hang the tail out ....forever!

I'm super sorry I was out of town. My schedule with work is brutal and I keep missing These motor X events but I'm dying to go to one.
I love that our cars can just hop off the highway for an afternoon and mix it up in these kinds of events. I can't wait to get a chance to race my DD. |

If you want any tips etc I'm happy to help. I have AX'd my Nismo in almost every configuration possible with all sorts of differnt tires. I also have been autoxing on Marina airport surface for long time and know what works well out there. But love seeing another 370Z out there. I have been lone ranger for over a year at most of the events in 370Z. |

Your Z sounds amazing, absolutely amazing. I talked to Rob at Z Car Garage and he is a great guy and very knowlegable. I see one of your sponsors is Z Car Garage. Nice! Are you going to be there on the 6th? Johncy |

I'd reccomend 295 rear and 275 front Michelin Pilot Sports PS2. Those are awesome tires. The Nitto and Hankook you are looking at arent all that good for autocross or track work. Also thats too much of a stagger which will force your car to understeer at AX events. You should have plenty of room to clear those 275's on stock suspension ride hieght car. If your worried go to 265. I run 295's in front and 315's in back but use Hoosier DOT R slicks. I run 285 and 275 for my street setup on same wheels. If you are less worrieed about wear Hankook Rs3 is a great track tire. You can run 285 rear and 275 or 265 front. Be careful with swaybars. Car definitely will benefit from bigger front bar. I dont know that it needs much more in rear bar. Bigger front bar will help keep rear tires hooked up better. |

Thanks for the advice Grant. I really appriciate it. I will look into the PS2s. As for power, how much are you pushing? do you have a 10psi pulley for the SC? Thanks again!:tiphat: |
