Anyone else have an issue with the rear hatch not opening on the first click? Mine almost always requires a second click to open.

Do you have the tonneau cover for the hatch area?

Yes. It's a known issue and there are threads about it.

Mine only does it when it's cold.

I do have the tonneau cover but I tried it without and it still does it.

Yeah, I just read the thread. I saw that this was an issue in 2009 but it still exists. I'm gonna go to the dealership and see what they say.

forza370z 10-23-2012 06:16 PM

Yes it's a known issue. I was just talking about this with other members on the forum.

Link below is helpful too but you got to have time read through everything.

I just fixed this problem a month ago. Nissan dealership should replace the spring for you for free. Or you can do the 2 penny trick which is easy enough too.

Thanks for the info and the links. It seems that my Nismo has the shorter one. I like the penny fix but am inclined to have the dealer fix this! :tiphat:

No, Nismo has the short ones too. But Nismo has the transparent rubber pieces to help the springs. The longer spring you saw in the pic is actually from 350z. And you are absolutely right, let the dealer fix it!

Thanks! Black is a pain but it gets easier if you keep up with keeping it clean. It always seems worth it when I look at it after and it shines! :)

My first oil change!

LakeShow 11-03-2012 05:46 PM

What oil did you use?

I got the Ester oil. They told me it was better. What do you use?

DavidB123 11-08-2012 12:20 PM

Is there a preference for oil for the Nismo at the dealership?

DavidB123 11-17-2012 07:26 PM

I finally got the rubber bumper springs replaced on my hatch. So far the hatch opens on the first click.

I usually use Mobil 1 but I'm switching to either Amsoil or Redline.

Did you do it yourself? Any details would be great.

It's as easy as replacing the light bulbs. All you need is to get the new hatch springs.

Can you pick those up at the dealership or do they have to be ordered?

I've had this problem with my 2010 40th anniversary since day one, but I have just dealt with it. I'd love to fix it!

Yes they have to order it. If your car is still under warranty it's free so hurry in! Otherwise they are $49 each from the dealership which I think you better off just doing the 2-cent trick to fix this issue yourself.

Thanks! I am still under warranty so I'll be visiting the dealership this week :)

Great. Good luck!

DavidB123 11-18-2012 08:25 PM

It fixed the problem! The dealer replaced it for me under warranty but simple to do it yourself. It just unscrews. The name and part number is: Spring-Lift 84415-1EA2E / 105Trim/Body

DavidB123 11-25-2012 04:31 PM

Update on the new hatch spring still working and opens on first push of hatch release button! :)

tjlazer 12-01-2012 12:13 PM

Mine worked for a while then went back to its old ways. Habits are hard to break!

Do you have the rubber stick on stops on the bottom of your hatch?

fuct 12-01-2012 01:44 PM

whats the warranty, 60k on body right?

2013 Nissan is backed by a 36-month/36,000-mile limited vehicle coverage and a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain coverage. Of course it is longer if you buy the extended warranty.

Yes that's correct. Drivetrain is 3year/36,000 miles while powertrain is 5year/60,000 miles. My drivetrain just ran out last week but I still got the powertrain.

I have a few small rock chips on the hood. I just ordered Dr. Color Chip after reading about it in this forum. I'll submit before and after pictures when done.

DavidB123 12-18-2012 11:04 AM

Got the Dr. Color Chip today. Pictures to follow.
