I have looked everywhere short of the dealer to order a new plastic piece for the bottom of my nismo front bumper. You guys have any idea where I can order one?I need a new one before I repaint it thanks for input!

fuct 07-31-2012 04:57 PM

Where did you get your front bumper painted at dealer ****** me on my used nismo and did a quick spray so now it's chipping with silver paint underneath. I'm guessing a good paint job is around 500?

tjlazer 07-31-2012 05:41 PM

yep paint is around $600 for front bumper.

Speedguy07 07-31-2012 07:15 PM

Thanks 342 isn't as bad ill probably order it soon an repaint my front bumper. My one isn't cracked or anything just has a small gap where it looks like someone hit the curb I'll post a picture it might be repairable

The whole bumper + paint from Nissan dealership is $1600.

NissanGuy23 07-31-2012 08:54 PM

A portion of my bottom plastic piece has somehow been "torn" off my my painted buyer, leaving it warped and the rivets have been ripped away. So replacing my black plastic under side wouldn't really fix it. Im prob going to end up having to zip tie it back together.

I guess its really not that bad just a small gap between the bumper i might just leave it and get my bumper repainted

Doesn't Z1 make an aluminum one that allows air to flow to the oil pan?

I thought the whole underside of the front was all one plastic peice? And the oil pan is underneath it if I'm not mistaken.

tjlazer 08-01-2012 06:12 PM

No there are two parts on the underside. The lower diffuser and the engine splash shield. The Base/Sport also has a very similar splash shield. Which is ALOT cheaper too.

dmhenderson 08-01-2012 07:10 PM

So user MJB and I have a similar question. What causes this gap:

http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...front-left.jpg

Is it supposed to be like that? Mind you, I was in an accident so I'm forcing the bodyshop to replace the entire diffuser assembly (the gray plastic stuff - is that what it's called?) but they don't seem to be so sure that will fix The Gap (tm)

MJB has never hit anything and says he has the same gap. What's the deal here?

MJB 08-01-2012 07:30 PM

The true name for that by Nissan is the front bumper lower fascia. Yes I have this gap on both side, I've never had any damage to the bumper. Anybody else with this problem?

Gauge 08-01-2012 07:31 PM

So it is 2 pieces... bet I cold fab a carbon fiber one of those...

forza370z 08-01-2012 11:42 PM

Hmm, interesting. I will check mine too.

fuct 08-02-2012 08:24 AM

that gap is from you banging the side into something. mine only started to show after i tapped a curb. :\

dmhenderson 08-02-2012 09:40 AM

So replacing the lower fascia should solve the problem then? I didn't bang into something so much as something banged into me.

ive yet to take apart the entire front end, but i would assume replacing the damaged parts and securing everything with the proper OEM fasteners SHOULD get that gap to go away.

there are a bunch of those plastic push pin deals along the lip. check and see if youve just popped a few out.

dmhenderson 08-02-2012 11:43 AM

So the new lower fascia is installed and it did indeed close the dreaded gap somewhat, just not entirely:

http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...er-fascia2.jpg

I'm heading over to the shop later this afternoon to inspect the vehicle. In the mean-time, my insurance "physical damage expert" person is going to make some calls to figure out what on earth causes this and if it's common in the nismo model.

At this point if it's not really ugly, I'll probably settle for some "hush go outside and play" money from the insurance company and call it a day.

fuct 08-02-2012 01:02 PM

that final gap you have isnt too bad.

dmhenderson 08-02-2012 01:05 PM

Yeah I'm still gonna whine about it but w/e :)

Armhunter 08-02-2012 01:41 PM

I have never hit anything at all with my car and I have a very small gap on both sides. I would not worry about it! Seems normal.

dmhenderson 08-02-2012 04:45 PM

I'll take pictures in a bit but yeah, the small gap looks "normal". Definitely was not normal before.

tjlazer 08-02-2012 05:46 PM

I have that gap as well. I think it's normal (or a defect in design)

FYI: Replacing parts with new ones will NOT solve the problem. You will have to use glue/get crafty with some modifications etc.

if the existing part is beat up and not to the exact factory dimensions then it will not fit right. if you have ALL new parts and install them correctly you SHOULD not have a gap...

sry i should have added "ALL" and "SHOULD"

but your also right, well placed zip ties and added securing measures will fix the gaps.... its what im doing instead of buying new sh1t

You guys may have broken one of the brackets on the front bumper that the black plastic lower piece bolts to. I broke one when I hit a curb. :shakes head: The only way to find out, is to unbolt the black plastic piece.

Is it a cheap fix? But I need to replace my front bumper anyways. There are several places got bent and damaged.

Rusty 05-04-2013 01:00 AM

Here you go. :D Post 217 of my journal.

Replaced the Lower Front Bumper Fascia. From when I clipped a curb with it on my last trackday last year. Got the new one from the link below. About a hunderd bucks cheaper then the dealer. There is a piece broken off of the bumper tho. Going to try a fix it with a plastic welder. You can see it in the last picture. I was under the Nismo today, and the new fascia is already scrapped up.
