No there are two parts on the underside. The lower diffuser and the engine splash shield. The Base/Sport also has a very similar splash shield. Which is ALOT cheaper too.

So user MJB and I have a similar question. What causes this gap:
http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...front-left.jpg Is it supposed to be like that? Mind you, I was in an accident so I'm forcing the bodyshop to replace the entire diffuser assembly (the gray plastic stuff - is that what it's called?) but they don't seem to be so sure that will fix The Gap (tm) MJB has never hit anything and says he has the same gap. What's the deal here? |
The true name for that by Nissan is the front bumper lower fascia. Yes I have this gap on both side, I've never had any damage to the bumper. Anybody else with this problem?

So it is 2 pieces... bet I cold fab a carbon fiber one of those...
|
Hmm, interesting. I will check mine too.
|
that gap is from you banging the side into something. mine only started to show after i tapped a curb. :\
|
So replacing the lower fascia should solve the problem then? I didn't bang into something so much as something banged into me.

there are a bunch of those plastic push pin deals along the lip. check and see if youve just popped a few out. |
So the new lower fascia is installed and it did indeed close the dreaded gap somewhat, just not entirely:
http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...er-fascia1.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...er-fascia2.jpg I'm heading over to the shop later this afternoon to inspect the vehicle. In the mean-time, my insurance "physical damage expert" person is going to make some calls to figure out what on earth causes this and if it's common in the nismo model. At this point if it's not really ugly, I'll probably settle for some "hush go outside and play" money from the insurance company and call it a day. |
that final gap you have isnt too bad.
|
Yeah I'm still gonna whine about it but w/e :)
|
I have never hit anything at all with my car and I have a very small gap on both sides. I would not worry about it! Seems normal.
|
I'll take pictures in a bit but yeah, the small gap looks "normal". Definitely was not normal before.
|
I have that gap as well. I think it's normal (or a defect in design)
FYI: Replacing parts with new ones will NOT solve the problem. You will have to use glue/get crafty with some modifications etc. |
