12 NISMO Oil Cooler

Does anyone know how many rows the NISMO's oil cooler is? Also, is it any different than the other models?

I believe it doesn't come with an oil cooler except that small adapter thingy

That oem cooler is enough unless you plan to track the car hard in the summer.

The OEM cooler is water cooled by the Radiator. I have added my 25 row cooler to my new 2012 because I will be tracking this car. I have discussed the install with Z1 and they say it can be done, although it is tight and the lines need special attention (routing) I am in process and will be driving this weekend to see if all is working out. Still waiting on the SB brake lines to finish everything. Can't wait!

The NISsan MOtorsports cooler is a 34 row Setrab cooler, which is an identical cooler core as used in the Z1 kit of that size. The Nissan one doesn't even come with a thermostatic plate option.

the Z1 first with on the 2012, it is tight in there, my sandwich plate bolt was a bit too long, I had to grind down 3-4mm off so it would hold the sandwich plate.
I have a Z1 34 row.

Again, unless you track heavy in the summer, the additional cooler on a 12 is not needed.

Is there a difference from the stock oil cooler on the 2012 vs the 2012 NISMO models?

It's really not a bad oil cooler for a production car. My temps never get above 220 in 90 degree temps. They would of course if I tracked it, but since I don't.

In my opinion the factory cooler on the 2012 is great to have in addition to a external oil cooler like the Z1, Stillen, GTM, etc. Reason being, the OEM oil cooler now installed on the 2012 will help regulate the oil temps in colder climates. Since 200*F+ coolant is constantly circulating, this will help to keep oil temps from getting too low.

By itself, the 2012 oil cooler will work just fine correcting some of the '09-'11's issues. But even in an autocross/track day enviornment, the oil temps can still get hotter than desired.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I have plenty of information on whether the stock oil cooler will suffice for daily driving or tracking. I am thinking about supercharging so I have come to the conclusion that I would need either another oil cooler or simply an upgraded oil cooler.

FYI - Just got back from my first event in my '12 Nismo. Went to Streets of Willow where it was low to mid 90's. I only have the stock oil cooler and the temps never got above 260* and never went into limp mode (keep in mind I am driving the car at a solid intermediate level). I am still going to get the Z1 cooler before next event, but thought the stock did a pretty darn good job.

Yeah I run about the same with my 09. Once the temps get that high the water temp starts climbing as well, once the water temps start to climb I back off for a lap or cool down and pit in.

Not sure that a fan would help much at speed, maybe if it doesn't get a lot of air pressure I guess it would. Thinking about a super-sized radiator and a laminova style heat-exchanger.
