Difference between stock NISMO exhaust and FI exhaust is about 7-8hp. So in theory you will gain hp switching, but no much. However I did this swap and it was noticable for the butt dyno to feel but not so much that it felt like a new car or anything.
All that said, considering you already did the intake mod I doubt you will see much gain changing exhausts. The gains from individual mods don't add up. Meaning that if intake gives you 15hp and exhaust gives you 15hp it doesn't mean you end up with 30hp. As you start adding mods the gains become less. On a normal Z intake and exhaust tend to give a 20-25hp gain. Considering yours is a NISMO that already has an upgraded exhaust and you've now added intake I would say switching to FI exhaust probably will only yeild 5hp, maybe less. The sound though is worth it so I say go for it. The above poster got a 40hp gain but he also has HFC and was tunned. Something to consider if intake and exhaust aren't enough. |

Yeah, i agree w/ 280z/300zx about the sound. . . I think to match the looks of the Nismo, an exhaust for the sound alone is a good idea. You might consider ways to lighten the car to make it faster, too. |

Were you really putting down only 275whp prior to mods? Is that normal for Nismo? Ouch, that's 21% drivetrain loss. Can you tell me more about the Uprev tune? I looked at their site but it wasn't entirely clear to me what the process is. Do you actually need to take your car to somewhere that has a dyno and have them tinker with things between multiple runs or what? The search tool on the site also didn't find anything at all close to me (Seattle area). It's also notable that the FI exhaust with carbon mufflers is 41 lbs versus the stock Nismo exhaust which is 66 lbs. |

If you look at the sheet we had to stop the baseline pull early because of the fact that it was running too lean. So the base numbers would have been higher if it was a complete run. Uprev software is used by a shop, in my case SpecialtyZ, car thrown on the dyno and professionally tuned to what i have currently on the car. I'm sure you can find true baseline numbers for a stock nismo on the forum. I did my baseline run with all my few aftermarket parts already on. |
