Nismo exhaust would be louder without resonator??

Hi guys,
I just got my 370z nismo a couple weeks ago and the only that i d like to change is the sound of the exhaust. I have been research about 370z after market exhaust, but i d like to keep the nismo exhaust for a while.
My question is:
Do you guys think that the exhaust will be louder if I keep the stock Nismo exhaust and replace the resonator with straight pipe?

Please give me some ideas. Thanks

I did to my nismo and it sounded good a little deeper i drover it that way for a few month while i was waiting for my F.I. exhaust.

would it effect your power?

NissanGuy23 06-06-2012 04:48 PM

I heard its louder, but doesn't sound particularly good...is this correct?

If you want it louder and to sound good at the same time your going to have to replace the muffler. If your going to do that you might as well just swap the whole exhaust system and pick up some horsepower at the same time. My NISMO was way too quiet and I'm much happier with my FI exhaust.

Yeah I've heard good things about F.I exhaust systems. Has anyone had the long tube headers (LTH) installed, if so how was the install and what do you think of them?

I got the LTH's. Everything is easy up to when you do the driver side header. Removing to stock header is a PITA. give yourself a couple of extra hours for that side. The heat shield is the hard part about it. If it wasn't for that. I could of had the whole exhaust done in about 5 hours. Look in my signature for my build thread. It has the pic's in it of the install. Love my set-up that I have with the exhaust. Little on the loud side.

Thanks for the link to your install it was very helpful. Is it true that if you go with the LTH that it eliminates the cats? Also do you have video/sound clip of what is sounds like? Have you had it tuned yet?

Yes the LTH's eliminate the cats. I do believe F.I. is offering a CBE now that has HFC's in the front section for those of us that are running LTH's. As far as the sound goes it's just plain awesome. The only thing you need to be aware of is LTH's paired with a non-res FI CBE WILL give you drone from 2-2.5k RPM.

I love it. It's always the first thing that people bring up when complimenting the car. The funny thing is that they always think that it's the stock exhaust for the Nismo and then I have to correct them.

Removing resonators will improve the sound of the nismo exhaust and it's a cheap mod. It won't affect horsepower in any way just the sound. However I would also recommend a full FI LTH and exhaust sytem. Video in my sig will justify.

Anyone thinking about it, go ahead. Sounds a little louder if that is what your looking for, plus a little pop. I have HFC also, so all together good things.

NismoNox 02-13-2014 07:17 PM

I took off the resonators on my Nismo, it's ok I guess, you will here a difference when down shifting but other than that, it's almost the same. You'll here more sound inside the interior but isn't that what resonators are for.
