Ride Stiffness

I just have a quick question that I hope can be answered here. I've been reading about the NISMO having a stiff suspension on here as well as other forums, people mentioning that they can feel every bump on the road. My daily driver right now is a 1999 Camry and I have never had the luxury to drive a lot cars in my lifetime.

So I was curious have any of you NISMO owners driven a 96-01 Camry and can tell me how much of a difference there is between the Camry and NISMO on ride stiffness?

Thanks

One's a sports car on rails and one is a grocery-getter on marshmallow's.

Seriously though, if you are asking this question you shouldn't be looking into buying a sports car.

I have intentions of buying the NISMO. I just wanted to get some feedback between the different rides, that's all. Of course I know one ride is a "marshmallow" and the other is a sports car on "rails." I've never drove a sports car before.

It's very very stiff. You will feel every bump, expansion joint and rock.

Look at it this way... In a "true" sports car it connects you to the road as one. You are supposed to feel every little thing. If you are looking for more of a sporty car that cushions your back a bit more look into a Infinity G or similar. But please don't do what some have and buy soft sidewall or cheap tires it defeats the purpose of having a corner hugging car.

Remember every time someone does another kitty's soul is devoured.

It's really not that bad. My NISMO is my daily driver. It took some getting used to at first but it's really not THAT bad. You will feel everything though. That's a given. I love it. Unless you're an older fellow that has a horrible back problem. It's all good.

You better go for a long test drive before you sign a sales contract to get a Nismo coming from a 99 Camry. Better yet, get a used one cause if its too stiff for you, it will be less of a loss if you decide to punt the Nismo due to the stiff ride. My mother has a 03 Camry with 100k miles on it, and when I drive it...well its like a marshmallow on air suspension and I'm glad when I get out of it.

I had driven a 01 camry for years as a DD. The nismo IS STIFF, If your buying as a DD you will notice the seats are more confortable, but the bumps are NOT. More so if the roads are Cement(like Houston) I don,t drive my car daily, but love every time I do and would buy another when the time comes! You will Love it TOO!

Just get Swift Spec R Springs for it and it will be ride like a Corolla around town and a true Nismo Spec R on the track. ;)

You will also most likely not need a camber kit too. So it's an easy upgrade.

Problem solved.

I owned an '01 Camry for a bit, and I've driven quite a few sports cars.

The ride in the Nismo is perfectly fine on the street. Yes it's going to be more firm than your Camry, but it's not unpleasant. I've driven plenty of cars that were a lot stiffer than a stock Nismo.

I like my Nismo & as everyone has stated you will feel everything on the road. The Nismo is not going to ride like a Cadillac or sound like a Mercedes inside. My mom (is 55) who has been in the car twice & said it is like being in a plane.....it is noisy & bumpy.

I think the quality of the roads in your area is the biggest determining factor. I've had 2 camrys and 1 corolla since 94 and I was not expecting the stiffness of the Nismo. On some freeways, its smooth as butter. But some really crappy roads make you want to hate life. Just going over a manhole can be unpleasant but the awesomeness of the Nismo outweighs a lot of it.
