Nismo FI CBE swap?

Anybody swap out a Nismo exhaust for a FI CBE? I'm interested to know what kind of gains can be expected.

The Nismo exhaust doesn't give you big gains at all. Maybe 7hp at most, not to mention it doesn't make it significantly louder. The FI exhaust will give you much greater gains, double to triple the amount of HP than the Nismo and will sound amazing! Speak to Tony in the Fast Intention Exhaust thread and he will explain any of your further concerns and ordering one. Good luck.:tiphat:

I did. I have the FI 18" resonator CBE with carbon fiber mufflers. It's a noticeable kick with the butt dyno but nothing crazy. The FI exhaust will only yeild about 7-10hp over the NISMO. See, the FI exhuast on a regular Z is good for about 15-18hp while the NISMO exhaust is only good for about 7hp over a stock regular 370z. So it stands to reason that the FI exhaust on a NISMO 370z will only get you about 7-10hp. The car does pull stronger, especially in the mid and higher rpms. Thas what I noticed at least. And it sounds ten times better than the NISMO too.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! I'm driving a Sport Touring that the original purchaser ordered with a Nismo exhaust. As I understand it I should be able to realize a 15-20 gain by swapping out the exhaust and getting a tune. It's on the edge of being worth it.

I'm not sure getting a tune with only having done a CBE would be worth it. If you are going to get a tune wait until you have done a few other mods like intakes and HFC. With just CBE a tune probably won't yeild much; that is unless your car from the factory for whatever reason came with a bad tune.

Prior to my NISMO I had a 09 sport touring. I ran the same FI CBE on that car as well. No tune. You'll find back when the Z first came out that most people that did a tune on a stock Z or a Z with only one mod gained very little if anything at all.

In the end you'll be swapping exhausts and only gaining 7-10hp. The tune might get you another 5 if that.

Agreed. No need a tune with CBE alone. Wait till you have at least cold air intake, high flow cats/test pipe and CBE all together then get a tune.

The FI CBE definitely gains high end power, but you might feel little sluggish at low/mid end. The exhaust note from FI CBE is awesome!

Just curious, is this the Nismo S-Tune pipe or the actual Nismo H-pipe?

That's a really good question, I'll have to take a look to find out.

Determined that it's an S-Tune exhaust installed.

ZForce 04-25-2012 07:25 PM

Ouch......the s-tune does not get as much Hp gain as the H-pipe. Probably 2hp at most, mine came in the same as stock on the dyno. HFC and CAi has the best gains with the total mods. Netted about 18 with s-tune, HFC and CAI. With a tune maybe squeeze a few more Hp. I really have been dying the FI pipe for some and Motordyne. G/L with trade, the nice thing going with the s-tune is the name, fit and finish.

+1....... :iagree: I remember this video. Very nice & a very nice sounding exhaust.

stratburst 05-15-2012 06:42 PM

It definitely adds some throat to the sound. The S-tune is pretty quiet in comparison.
