I wouldn't venture to say much. I've yet to really see where a tune has given substantial results. Most get 5-10hp at the peak and maybe 10-15 under the area of the curve. However on the NISMO, since it already comes tuned from the factory, I would say you'll gain even less. Personally not worth the money to me, but again that's my thought. Then again, you spent how much on your mods and probably only gained 30hp. I mean cost per hp on this car isn't that great to begin with so I guess it just depends on what you are willing to spend to get the max hp.

ECU tuning isn't so much about gaining the HP, but rather adjusting your A/F ratio to safer levels after bolt ons, smoother power delivery, quicker throttle response, increase rev limiter, speed limiter adjusted.. ect...

Usually after bolt ons you are going to run lean. I know my 350z was running dangerously lean at WOT after I had full bolt on installed. Stock ECU mapping can only adjust A/F, timing, ect so much...

IMHO bolt ons are a waste if you do not get a tune. And yes, even the Nismo could use a tune after all your mods are installed. I've seen people gain 20HP from a tune, some only 5HP, just depends. I paid 600 for my Uprev tune for my 350z. Only gained 7hp, buuuuut, A/F was adjusted to safer level.

It seems the tuners have not be able to fully access the ecu to tune it properly.

Yes, $500 for a couple of HP is not worth it. The gain from the bolt on mods don't really seem worth it. I would like to,see gains from a stand alone ECU like AEM or simular. Im am sure there are gains to be had with fuel, cam, vvt timing on the motor. I am sure they worked hard to make the car mundane for the masses. Also it could be the engine is at its max performance capabilities.

I know with bolt ons I can go from 174 whp to 240 whp on a Honda 2.0 N/A So 66 whp from ECU and normal bolt ons header, exhaust, Intake. So we should see much more with a higher displacement with bolt-ons and upgrades. Seems like all car makers these days are locking down the performance parameters in the ecu I know GMs Ecu have learning features that will keep the car at a certain torque and HP basically detuning any bolt on mod one does. It takes HP tuners tune to be able to use the bolt on mods or the the stock ecu tunes the out everything you add.

I wonder if the Nissan ecu does something simular.
