Louder NISMO
i just got my nismo 2 days ago. I love it
I'm still breaking it in but I'd like to know if where is a way to make the nismo exhaust a bit louder. This car already turns heads but I want the sound to go with it now. That's the only mod I'm looking to do . Can anyone shed some light ? |
Headers or test pipes
|
the NISMO exhaust is actually kind of crappy in terms of performance and tame in terms of sound. The first week of ownership I swapped out the exhaust for fast intentions with 18 inch resonators and carbon fiber mufflers. Much better in sound while not annoyingly loud and gained more power too. Test pipes, high flow cats, and headers are another way to go while keeping the stock NISMO exhuast. Personally headers is too much trouble. With high flow cats there are still people who have issues with throwing a CEL. And with test pipes you have to worry about swapping them at time of smog. Changing the exhaust was just easier. I mean the other mods aren't that big of a pain but having come from doing years of modding of my 280z and 300zx I wanted to go more low key with my 370z.

Get a set of F.I. HFC's and 18" resonated F.I. exhaust and call it a day! No codes and great sounds. Just call and talk to Tony.

I really don't want to change the exhaust I want the car to be stock . I bought it as a nismo so I didn't have to do work to it

Sorry.. but if you dont want to mod the car the exhaust wont be able to really be made it louder... +1 for the fast intentions exhaust, just leave the cats stock and you will not have any smog problems
|
I put a set of Berk HFC's on mine and left the rest stock. I think it maybe added a little sound but really just a little. Felt a decent seat of the pants gain but that could just be a placebo justifying the money spent.
|
just get Hi Flow Cats (test pipes if you have no emissions testing), then it will be louder. This will net about ~10-20 whp too.
|
There is always the exhaust washer mod :stirthepot:

How about removing the resonator ?

Franco I think you are getting yourself into trouble on this site if you dont want to mod the car. Everyday I get on here I want to change something. If you are guna leave it stock, then leave it stock and be happy with it. which in my opinion isnt that bad.

I was talking about this to a friend of mine who works at Nissan. For one, we both think the car is loud enough and sounds great as is. But to be honest, the exhaust is not the best out there. He was telling me you can easily upgrade the intake and full exhaust and get quite a bit more power out of the car. He was talking about 30-40 more HP. Either you want to change the car or dont! Plain and simple.
|
Cars today are made conservative for a reason...It opens them up to a bigger market, plus its less hassle for nissan down the road legally and warranty wise. If you want a louder exhaust get a new one. In my opinion the 370z doesn't have the sports car sound it should but thats why we have aftermarket parts...While i'll be the first person to bragg that my 370 is a nismo, i'll say that its also an exspensive brand name and that because its nismo doesnt mean it is the best...The exhaust is a prime example of that! My first mod and BY FAR the most important in my opinion. I couldn't be happier with it and everyone that hears it cant help but :yum:
|
Franco, just get the AAM Shorty Tail Exhaust. They will make it louder and you can eliminate the weight of the muffler. Nuff said!
|
Be like me and probably 1% of the people here that leave their Nismo alone. Ok not really leaving mine alone since I'm about to install a Z1 Motorsports oil cooler, installed better brake pads, Z1 stainless steel brake lines and ATE Type 200 race brake fluid. :ughdance: The rest is factory...I think that counts.

I want to keep the car stock except for the sound ... |
Actually the members on this forum that have given you very sound advice from the question you posted are far from that. The answers you are looking for have already been answered. What you need to do now is learn a bit about the Z's exhaust system, read over the great advice given here and thank someone that you feel gave you the the tip for helping you get the exhaust sound you are wanting. HFC's, test pipes and shorty tail pipes have all been suggested. It's time for you to say thank you and make up your mind. Thank YOU!

Just take the muffler off.. Sounds perfect. If you like it,you can run straight pipes from where you took the muffler off, out the back, or leave it like it is.. Sounds great, better gas mileage, drop about 50lbs all for free..
|
i cut off the rasonator. it should be better with HFC
