Need feedback on what to do with my NISMO

Z brothers and sisters:

So I am at a point where I need to make a move on a car that has back seats in order to facilitate a carseat, kids that need to sit in the backseat (by law), and or/both. I have been researching picking up a second vehicle, as well as looking at selling/trading the NISMO (I really don't want to do it though). Anyway, here it is:

Choice A:
  • Pick up a used SUV w/ 3rd row seating for maximum space for moving things and people/kids.
  • Pick up a Crew Cab pickup truck
  • Pick up an unmolested 240SX. That will allow me to accomodate kids and still have soome sportiness.
  • Pick up an economy sedan to serve as DD.

Choice B:
  • Sell/Trade the NISMO for a sporty sedan. Maybe a Maxima/M37 or Altima/G37.
  • Sell/Trade the NISMO for a G37 IPL.
  • Sell/Trade the NISMO for a Crew Cab pickup or SUV.

The sad part is that I am just about to finish up the epic-osity with my Greddy TT build and F.I. 3" TDX. I could always return it to stock and sell/trade, then either sell the parts or use them if I get a G37.

Fire away.............:shakes head:

I say buy a used DD and keep the nismo for the weekends!

theDreamer 03-01-2012 02:48 PM

I would personally keep the Nismo, you have put in plenty of work and should enjoy it.
Shop around for a good used 4 door car that you feel safe in and your little will be safe in.

Gauge 03-01-2012 03:01 PM

You will lose money at this point by not keeping the Nismo.

roplusbee 03-01-2012 03:07 PM

Very true.............

ZMan8 03-01-2012 03:10 PM

My scion dd costs me 200/month no money down. just something to think about. There are plent of new (more so 2-4 year used) that can be got for an afordable price and that will have room for a growing family.

ccdominic 03-01-2012 03:10 PM

I say go get a dd. You can always sell em later if u change your mind, but u can't get back ur tt beast if u sell! I think driving that baby when its all done will solidify your decision!

:iagree:This!

Get a used or certified pre-owned sedan like an Altima/Accord/Camry which are relatively inexpensive to insure, great on gas and pretty safe. Not worth it to sell or trade in the Nismo at this point, considering the amount of money you probably put in already. SUV's or crew cabs are great for hauling furniture around, but if you're anything like me, its usaually once or twice a year that ever happens.

roplusbee 03-01-2012 03:35 PM

Thanks guys. I just needed to hear it. Just got off the phone with the lady and she laughed at me for creating this thread. She said that she would slap me for trying to sell/trade the Z because I would be unbearable afterward, lol! Guess I am going back to searching for another car..............

koffeegy 03-01-2012 03:40 PM

F**k it. I say get a 2012 Honda Civic HF Sedan - Official Site if you plan on buying new. You would prolly have to fill up once a year in that thing esspecially if you decide to go with a standard. LOL Seriously, I would look at either a used or new CIVIC... they make those with two doors too ya know!?! Plus you can mod them out if that is what you would like. I had a 1994 CIVIC coupe 5 speed. I could swear I drove from New Orleans, La. to Destin, Fl. and back on almost one tank of gas in that thing.

heebus 03-01-2012 03:45 PM

Give the kid(s) up for adoption?

Gauge 03-01-2012 03:58 PM

:iagree: Probably the cheapest option right there.

roplusbee 03-01-2012 04:01 PM

lol

nismochiq 03-01-2012 04:49 PM

keep the NISMO you will regret it, but like an older SUV for the car seat, you will need your sanity

roplusbee 03-01-2012 06:11 PM

Thanks again. You are right...........I would hate life if I got rid of the Z. I would prolly be somewhat satisfied with a G37 IPL, but the payment would not agree with my pockets.

Urbanracer 03-01-2012 06:44 PM

Yeah find a good daily driver, you can used the nismo as an excuse to get out of the house. Best kind of therapy there is.

My brother is pretty broke but wanted a toy, and we have a real winter here. He leased a stripped out Corolla for like $160-170 a month (no down of course) and bought a Honda Fury motorcycle. He drives the Honda everywhere and falls back on the Corolla whenever the weather is lousy or he needs to haul people.

My wife replaced her aging Honda Element with a new car. We kept it around, and now I drive it in the snow or when I need the extra room. And I never have to take off the Z's summer rubber now, while before I had to have snow tires for my sports car.

It works great. You'll be happy with that arrangement.

bigsix 03-02-2012 05:25 AM

You'll definitely want to keep your Nismo.

As far as getting another car, were you looking to get a Nissan? What's your budget?

I would suggest looking at a new Versa Sedan or Hatchback (depending on lifestyle or what your kids like..) The hatchback will have a slightly bigger engine (1.8 liter: 122 hp), but the sedan( 1.6 liter: 109 hp) is great value @ just under $11 thousand.

I take back what I said. You should sell it, at a very cheap price.

....to me haha.

The 2012 is garbage, and this is coming from a Honda fan. Get a 2011 that a dealer has left over for way less. Every aspect of the 2012 is a downgrade.
