Trading in an 11 370z sport for a 12 Nismo, price issues.
My local dealer here in Alabama is saying that my 3 month old z is only worth 23k now, but will give me 28k for it and the new nismo will run 42k.
So he's wanting 13.5k cash from me and my car. Does this sound right.? I explained to him my mods and the dealer appraised my car at excellent condition and very low miles. What type of deal should be fair for both parties.? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to go to another dealer. You are going to get less than your car is worth and pay to much for the Nismo. Just do some quick checks on Kelly or some of the other sites. If you do that deal they are going to make good money off of your car and the new one you want to buy.
I'd tell them to shove it. Good luck!

I did the kelly and edmonds sites today and showed them, the dealer salesmen via text msg's that my car with options would be sold used by a dealer for approx 31-32k.
they then dropped their price a small margin. your absolutely right yfzr.

wow the loss, I woulda just got the nismo in the first place or learn to live with what I had. Its just not worth taking that much of a loss. Think of the go fast upgrades you could afford if you stick with what you have now! You could even get the nismo body kit and save loads. I would much rather do that if I already had one and they tried that on me.

Look into selling it private and set a price where you're willing to move. If you can't get enough to make it worth your while, don't blow all the money!
Also keep in mind if you trade in the car, you don't pay sales tax on the value of the trade in. So there is a bit of padding in the trade in option. |

He is over pricing the nismo... I wouldn't pay anything more than invoice, which is around 37-38k new. Since the 2013's are coming out, it should be under invoice.
FYI, I bought my nismo at invoice, brand new with 15 miles, with all the options except the nismo brakes. Last edited by Cell; 02-17-2012 at 02:38 PM. |

That Nismo is way overpriced and the trade in price is laughable. I would suggest parting out since they don't really take aftermarket stuff into account anyway. In any case, you will have to take some kind of lost on the '11. Just not worth it IMO. Best shot is private sale. You should always treat each transaction separately anyways. Next time, Settle a price on the Nismo first..then negotiate the value of the trade in.

The dealership's gm called me and offered me my car and 13k from me and 2 years free maint for the 2012 nismo.
Niche, your absolutely right. your all right. i appreciate the inputs. my current 2011 red z with the mods i have on it rides/ looks /feels better then the day i bought it. I should be more then satisfied with what i have now and live on. The nismo isn't a must have for me, i went to the dealer seeing what the lay-out would look like and well, i got my answer.!
