Strength of the Front Bumper
Question for all the Nismo owners. I just had a Nismo front bumper installed on my Sport Touring. Since then, along with installing some new springs, I'm scraping the underside (not the front edge) of the black trim under the front bumper when I pull into/out of my driveway. Kinda of thought this might be a problem.
I'm getting a ramp to lessen the angle of attack into the driveway, but in the meantime, I'll be scraping. It's not like I'm dragging the nose, there's just a point where the underside rubs the street as I pull out of the driveway. How strong is the nose on a Nismo? Does anyone else scrape their cars on a regular basis? Thanks!

It's pretty tough. I scrape every time I am not extra careful pulling into the driveway, but I have an evil driveway. I started parking ont he street until someone hit my boy's truck that was parked just in from of my Z. Stopped that quick.
Just use a good angle and try to hit it from an angle where you are going uphill into the driveway instead of downhill. I have to loop around the block to get into my driveway scrap-free. And I still have to be careful. Rob

The bumper itself is pretty weak actually in my opinion. However the diffuser, fender liners and protectors attached together actually provide really good support for the bumper. I scraped my diffuser all the time. Dont stress it too much, it will happen. Plus you cant really see the bottom of the diffuser.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not worried about the aesthetics, it's the risk to the actual bumper cover.
I stumbled onto this thread: Scrape front lip? See the picture on post # 12; that's what has me concerned. Like I said, I'm getting a ramp, just need to work with the other three owners in our townhouse development. Just a formality there.

Slow, all the original planned items were going to be complete this week but then we realized someone stole the radio and my radar detector from my car. Now we get to redo the audio and such which requires it going to another shop and whoever stole those items just ripped everything out and of course broke other OEM parts. Hopefully it will all be done soon....hopefully.

It's not a concern on how strong the Nismo bumper is but more of do you want to constantly scrape the underside every single day. I was scraping the under diffuser daily on my stupid rolling curb after my swift drop. I had to buy a Bridjit curb ramp. I was not worried with the bumper getting damaged or torn off, but about the toll it was doing to my under diffuser. At the daily rate of scraping, it was clear I would have to eventually replace that piece often as it gets torn up.
It's a smart way Nissan did it too, that way you don't have to replace the whole fascia. But at $350+ a pop, it is still expensive.

One neighbor is scraping his Mercedes SL as bad as me, and another is having trouble with his IS350. The third neighbor has two SUV's but is all over getting this fixed, so there are no worries about everyone pitching-in.

Thanks for the comments. When I saw the picture of the dimpled bumper, I got worried. You can't see the diffuser scrapes unless you look under the car. It's just nerve wracking to hear that thing scrape every time I use my driveway. It's much worse than when I scraped my Touring lip. Hopefully, that will be remedied soon.

Yeah Brad was not happy, I am not sure what they concluded on it, they are going over things now and just looking forward on trying to get the car 100% running. If it was an inside job I am sure heads will roll.
