Rev in neutral
I have an 09 nismo and I found when rev in neutral it won't exceed 5k. Is it a defect or ecu limits it to protect the engine? Also, do you guys find the throttle response on the 370 is little slow? It always seems the rev holds for a second then drops slowly after I release the gas pedal. I have a g35 coupe as well, the throttle response seems lot faster on the VQ35DE engine.
On another note, when I shift from the first gear to the second after the car gets going and if I release the clutch a little faster the car shakes. It doesn't happen when I shift to 3rd or 4th gear. Is it normal? I am still new to the stick shift. If it's because of my poor skill please bear with me! Lol. |

Yes, revving in neutral is limited to 5K rpm...that's suppose to happen, like you said to protect the engine. I can't comment about the shaking from 1st to 2nd though.

Thanks for the confirmation djpathfinder! And the slow throttle response is kinda like in the video.

Be smoother with the clutch and it won't shake. lower gears will enhance the lack of skill. |

1st to 2nd shift is always a bit tricky on this transmission. You just need to time it right and find the right rev point to shift at. For me, it's around 4500 rpm's when I drive slightly more "spirited." If you normaly shift under 3500 rpm's from 1st to 2nd, you just need to let the clutch out a little smoother/slower.

A heavy flywheel and no camshafts might give you slower throttle response in the 370z, |

VDC and less than optimal shifting (or too much spirited driving) will do that to ya. Once you really get used to it you can drive normal and spirited without the shake/jerk/"OMG VDC got me again" stuff.

No, it's not the vdc. If I clutch out little smoother when I shift to second gear the car won't shake/jerk. So it's my poor skill.
Now if the ecu preventing you rev above 5k in neutral, is it bad to hit the redline in first gear? I can feel the engine starts to shake and hit its limit when I rev to 5k in first gear. Is it normal? I see plenty of peaple rev to redline in 1st gear on youtube tho. Do you guys do that too for a aggressive launch? |
