6 pot brake upgrade?
In the market to upgrade my brakes. Curious if anyone has done this to their NISMO? Looking at just upgrading the front calipers to 6 piston or maybe getting the full up front and rear kit. The NISMO model already has larger rotors and most of the upgrade kits are the same size as it. I would like to keep the cost around$2500. Any words or advice would be appreciated. Looking for noticeable stopping improvement.

The Nismo has the same brakes as the sport package, 4-piston Akebono's.
For 6-piston calipers there are AP Racing, Stop-Tech, Brembo, and then the no-names. The big 3 range in price from $2500-$3000, a little less if on sale. The rotor sizes will either be the same as stock or a larger 15", but the 15" precludes 18" wheels options. If you are looking for street performance, don't waste your money. These big brakes won't stop you any faster than the brakes you have. Their purpose is to improve performance under repeated braking conditions, i.e. on a race-track. For standard street driving the brakes don't get hot enough for the big brakes to show any difference, instead the braking potential will be tire limited. |
Worth every penny, I had an 8 pot FR / 4 pot RR Rotora BBK on my Z, and I loved it.

It's a heck of a lot cheaper just to buy more aggressive pads.

But if you must be a baller on a budget, you can it beat the 6 piston brembo upgrade that uses stock rotors. You can get it for under 2000 street priced.

I did 6/4 Rotoras with 14" rotors all around on mine. Nothing like having that added stopping insurance.
