Ok guys no need to worry. We don't even know exactly what the actual cause is yet. Or if the OP installed this himself. Oil coolers are very simple to install IMO so we'll have to wait. So even if it's a oil cooler issue Ill have to know beyond a doubt that it was installed correctly. Plus that there was enough slack in the lines itself.

This is also why I've install a oil pressure gauge also.

I want people who are holding off on Z1, or any other cooler, to remember that there are more than a couple of us tracking regularly without issue.

The appeal of the Z1 kit for me was that it has all of the fittings and brackets that you need. Made specifically to fit our Zs with good instructions. You don't have to be a mechanic to install it. Took me about three hours (working slow).

+1, no problems here and already one track day under the belt too.

Curious as to what the cause of that problem is tho.

The car was towed to Performance Race Solutions where the cooler was installed. They have been in contact directly with Z1 and the issue appears to be a fitting on one of the oil lines. I am trying to stay out of the finger pointing but I am comfortable that the manufacturer and the installer plan to resolve the issue to my satisfaction. The part in question is being shipped back and a replacement is on the way. Whether it was defective or installed incorrectly may be difficult to know for sure and I am not attempting to bring any negative press to anyone. So far this issue has only cost me towing charges and I hope the remainder is worked out between the two parties.

Good to hear. Z1 is top notch in my opinion.

What still worries me is that the oil light came on? But sounds as if it may of lost pressure but there was plenty of oil to keep things good for that moment. But what was the sound you heard? Are you saying the line came out from the fitting?

OZShifter88,
I apologize for the issue with our kit. From speaking with the guys at Performance Race Solutions, we will be replacing the line as "defective" and will be consulting with our manufacturer about the failure. This is a highly unusual type of failure and one that I am interested in investigating further once I recieve the line.

I have pulled all oil cooler lines off of the shelf this morning and personally inspected each of their fittings. All lines on the shelf are correct and free of any defects. I will be speaking with our guys in Receiving on Monday and will be adding a few more points to our QC Check List for the Z1 370Z/G37 Oil Cooler Kit.

Big props Dustin.

But I'd like to state to everyone and anyone that things like this can happen. They hardly ever happen but you can't always take it for granted that it won't. This is modding. But this could of been much worse. Props to the OP for getting his motor turn off quickly. Unfortunately this type of mishap can cause bad things. Of course if the motor blew I would of removed the cooler and then take it to the dealer. Hehe.

Well I have a track weekend coming up in August at Roebling Road and I am very aware of the oil cooler being a requirement, just not sure as to which brand I should be looking at, was hoping too see what most of you guys use. And also what kind of price I should be looking at for the install. Thanks!
What about the break in period? Hope you get your car back on the road soon.

Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT use Aeroquip socketless lines. Freaking crap, one of my oil lines just popped out while I was on the freeway. I was not even pushing the car, just cruising home. Pisses me off because I did the install myself and I know darn well that the lines are installed correctly. The lines had well enough slack. Luckily, I was able to get a flatbed tow truck and was not too far from home. I shut off the car immediately as soon as I saw my oil light come on. So angry right now , had oil sprayed all over the passenger side of the car, freaking under cover body tray full of oil, everything was just a mess. Crazy though how everyone that was passing by was staring at the Z on the flatbed, lol.

We have seen multiple failures with the Aeroquip socketless lines on the 370Z. The combinations of the high oil temps and the oil pressures are right near the manufacturers posted limits. I think the oil temp rating from Aeroquip is 300 degrees F while the pressure rating is around 250 psi. I think the combination of the line pressure and the sustained temperatures is what is the cause of the failures. There will be some engineered safety margins in place that should allow for higher fluid temps and pressures, but how much so, I am not sure.

I have been running -8 AN Socketless Lines on my Z32 for the past 2 years and have not had a single problem. I see marginal oil pressures and around 220F oil temps on the VG engine.

The product itself is great. But for some reason it is not advisable for this application.
