All great advice! If you're a member of Sam's Club or Costco, you might want to check with their vehicle purchase program. Some dealerships have deals with these companies and they're supposed to be "no hassle". They simply put $200 above the written invoice price.
I don't believe in their "no hassle" program because I love the negotiation part of the whole deal. I recently helped my brother get his car through Costco and he came home with a brand new Subaru Impreza with several dealer installed options, nav, sat radio subscription for 5 years or something like that and negotiations got him free oil changes for the life of the car and free car washes. The final drive out price including TT&L was $500 less than the written "invoice" price. Just because they say "no hassle" doesn't mean you're stuck with it and can't negotiate. |

well what happened to me is i went to a dealership right after i got of a deployment they still had a 2009 nismo from the year before that they were trying to get rid of for some space for the 2010 model. so the sticker price was 35K and it was still brand new, it was actually one of the last models made in 2009, but seeing as it was cheaper than anticipated i bought it. definitely worth it considering that the only difference from the nismo and the base model is the nismo tune, body kit, and exhaust including the 18 hp gain from base is actually a better price than trying to mod out a base with all the parts and body kit only an extra 3K, def worth it. just look into breaks and see if they came out with the oil cooler for it because at rapid temps if you are going to bring it to a care track are crucial seeing as the break pads suck. and see about getting new tires as well. but if you want an expensive car be sure to invest alot of time and money to keeping it the way you want it. she is a little baby but what do you expect? you can either look at it that way or go buy a used zr1 and pay over $200 for an oil change. its up to you but nismo is the way to go but not track ready as they said it is. do your research

OP:
What is your plan for this vehicle? If it is going to be a hard charging track beast, you will need to do some research as others have stated. If it will server as an AutoX / weekend warrior type, minimal upgrades are necessary (if any). I haven't taken my NISMO to the track, but I have attacked quite a few TX county roads that can prove to be quite demanding at speed. My oil temps never exceeded 230 and brakes never faded. I did find a pair of deer that scared the crap outta me as I passed between them (as they crossed the road at dusk), but that is another story. Just test drive one and make your determinations from there............

Well, I finally went to the dealer today. I got my feet wet and got the opportunity to see how these salesman play the game. This guy was tough. I will try again in about a week or so with someone else(if the car still there). The biggest problem I had is that the car was there for only a few days and is the only NISMO in stock ... Not to mention they only had 4 370's in stock including the NISMO. Plus he also tried feeding me the Japan thing. anyways I will keep you guys posted with my second attempt.

Question regarding a scratched air spoiler.......
Greetings everyone..this is my first post so help me out...I came across a very good deal on a 09 370Z. Bought it this weekend. The only problem is that the front air spoiler...the black plastic piece that hangs super low... (I guess that's what it's called is all scratched up from curbs and other obstacles... Should I replace it...many have said no, you will party with a curb soon considering you have driven SUVs all of your life..but other than that the car is immaculate...what should I do, and what is the proper term for that piece? Thanks!

The exent of negotiability is going to depend entirely on that dealer's market and the liklihood that he can sell that short-supply vehicle at the price he's asking. If he believes, based on his experience with his customer base, that he can sell that Nismo at sticker, then why would he sell it to you for less than that? If you were a car salesman, you'd do the same...try to get the most you can for the vehicles you sell without keeping them around so long that you incur counterproductive floor-planning interest charges. If that car is new to his lot, it's certainly reasonable that he'd want to keep it around long enough to gauge customer interest before droppping the price.
Your best bet is to go to another dealership that's having a harder time moving their Nismo inventory, therefore more likely to be flexible in how much they sell them for. . Last edited by MacCool; 07-18-2011 at 08:00 AM. |
