The other thing is that being in FL, it may be hard for you to buy the car during off-season since the weather is almost always gorgeous there. Just be prepared to walk away from a few deals if you intend on saving yourself a few thousand $$ and refuse to settle for less car than you wanted to start with

Sticker price on mine was also 43,xxx... I ended up getting mine for 38,000 plus tax and doc. It's a 2011 with all options i.e. Homelink, Backup Cam, Illuminated door, and Nismo mats... I don't buy non negotiable! Is it a white one like you were looking for??

Personally I would not wait. Birdman gave you some good advice. I would go and try it. Worst that can happen is you have to walk away. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Birdman is correct, but the salesman could also be telling you the truth to a degree.
Even though the economy is terrible, the current Z supply isn't in the best shape. If the dealer just got this in, as you stated, and they believe they have a car that many people will want to buy, they can indeed sit on the price and wait for the right buyer. I would search your local dealers, search autotrader and cars.com for the car you are looking for. Figure out how many of the model Z you want are out there. Decide what you want to spend and what your willing to spend at most, then start negotiating. As Birdman said, if they don't want to negotiate, always walk away. Sometimes you will get a call within a couple days with the dealer having a change of heart with regards to the price. The bottom line is always the same. How bad do you want a particuliar car and how much are you willing to spend to get it. Just remember that while trying to negotiate the best deal you can, someone can walk in and buy it for the asking price. As long as you are willing to lose a car you want in search of a better deal, it should all work out in the end.

Agree, try to go lower. Mine had a sticker of 45k with options, dealer add on's, and mark-up due to it being a NISMO. It took about 3wks but got it for 35k +TTL.

Thanks Greg, you touched on key points about the inventory blues. 1cleans13, as noted by Roadster4Us, autotrader.com and cars.com are excellent resources. You don't have to limit your search locally. I bought my car in Connecticut after grinding down the salesman and his manager for 24 hours; flew in and drove back. Expand the search radius to 500 miles and start from there. Good luck man and have fun watching sales people pull all kinds of moves on you... I enjoyed it

how low of an offer should I start with?... 35K sounds great but a bit too low... at the end of the day I am willing to walk away from this car and wait for another one... but its so hard to get them in the color I want and 5 minutes from my house lol. I am a little excited and I dont want that to get in the way of the offer I want to make.

I would agree that 35 would probably be too low. You want the dealer to know you are serious about buying the car. If it was me, and this is just me, as everyone is different, I would go in and start at 38,500, and make sure they know I am not there to haggle all night. If it ended up going back and forth like it usually does I would tell them to get me under 40K and I would buy the car on the spot. If they balk at that, I walk and see if they call me back.
Again...this is for a particular car I really want and that I know might be hard to find again. Good luck....

I have purchased two brand new cars in the past 45 days using all the methods above, one for my wife and one for myself and got my asking price for both cars and free maintenance for 3 years on each car. May the force be with you. V
