NISMO wheel paint flaws - anyone else?

Default NISMO wheel paint flaws - anyone else?

I've noticed several flaws in the factory finish of my NISMO Z. Had her a year, bought it new and the silver appears to be too thin...showing the darker metal underneath in several places.

Anyone else had this issue? As I bought mine from Cali and had it shipped, its not easy for me to get the original dealer involved so it'll be going in locally for a Nissan customer sat case to be opened.

they are chips and scratches from normal wear........ every wheel gets them

you just cant stop looking at how cool they are and you see the damage.

Thanks for the reply, but that's not what I'm referring to. The top finish isn't opaque enough to cover the darker base coat or metal underneath.

I've actually heard this concern from everyone with Rays Wheels - Sport pack and Nismo

I'm having mine redone by Alloy Wheel Repair. He explained how they do the finish. The use a dark base coat and then do a light hyper silver coating over the base coat. They then put on the clear coat. After the clear coat is on, they very lightly spray the hyper silver paint over the clear coat. It is not the easiest process and because of the light spray on the clear coat finishes can vary. He found areas on my stock nismos which were lighter than other areas because of this process. On the other hand this process does make them stand out.

This just gives you a reason to powder coat your wheels. That should run you 50 to 60 bucks per rim. They'll be just like new

$125/wheel is typical around here, and not everyone does it correctly

Had mine done for $95 a wheel. You can't tell they have been worked on. Excellent job and much cheaper than new wheels.
